Last night I was cooking mince, id run out of olive oil half way through and so I put in some soya spread as it was all I had, thought it would be ok as it was only a spoonful, Jemima hadn't had it before I bought it for me & the other children.

Anyway she ate her tea then about 2 hours later she woke up crying and seemed to be in pain, I picked her up and she screamed so much until she was sick. She then calmed down, I gave her half a feed but she seemed full of wind and was upset, she was then sick a couple more times, was her tea she was bringing up.

She then slept well and took her 11pm feed fine. She has taken 4oz of formula today and her breakfast fine but still seems to have wind. Her temp is fine and she is smiley so im sure she isn't ill.

Does this sound like the soya could of caused this? she has had mince and sweet potato before and it was all cooked properly.

Does the soya spread definatly have no milk in it??

Shes not been off milk for that long and it could be her system just altering. Does she have soya in anything else?? Try not to panic about it, and just keep an eye out. Don't try and remove anything else from her diet until she's been off milk for 6 months.

Hi Claire,

She has been off milk a while now, a good couple of months and she is rarely sick. I checked the spread and its milk free.

She has never had soya before, all I give her is meat, veg and her Pepti formula.

Thanks

Just keep an eye on her,
It may just have been one of those things. Plenty of people pick up bugs etc, and it may just have been a coincidence.
Hope she is feeling better now.

Claire is right and I am sure that you know from your other children - babies can be sick for no apparent reason. I would only suspect soya if it happened a few more times.

Try not to worry about it.

:( Could it have been the fat in the spread? I have to stick to a low fat diet as I have gastritis which causes a bloated tummy, severe stomach cramp and diarrhoea. Hope she's over it soon.

Thank you all, well she was really off the next day, not ill but not quite right, no more sick but she started with snuffles, green snot and red cheeks. Teething or food related I have no idea but I won't be giving soya again. She has also had mucus in her poo but poos are formed not runny.

Seeing dietician wednesday and dr so shall chat to them.
