She said if Jem seemed fine on regular baby formula then I could try abit of dairy and see how she tolerates it. So yesterday I gave her cows milk on her weetabix, not much sick at all only a small amount when she burped which I was suprised about, same today no real sickness. At lunch today she had a fromage frais and again seemed to tolerate it fine. Then tonight just before bed she did a poo, she doesn't usually poo at this time, it wasn't watery but was abit more soft than usual and as i opened the nappy there was a biggish piece of mucus in it, very greeny/brown coloured and thick. just the one piece and it wasn't diorrhea but could dairy of caused this and if so why does she have mucus?

I am ringing the dietician tomorrow to let her know how Jem has got on, I thought she seemed fine until I saw the mucus:confused: she use to be just very very sick, crikey my girl keeps me on my toes:lol2:

If she is not miserable I guess she is not suffering in any way. I think that you will have to carry on with your experiment and see how she copes.

Thanks Copper,

So does mucus not mean anything?

I don't know the answer to that question. Maybe she is reacting a little to the dairy. In my case my intolerance to lactose has always been up and down, so maybe Jemima's will change too. Time will tell I think.

Can dairy cause behaviour changes? Jem isn't sleeping aswell as she was, she has cat naps now and wakes up so grumpy. Tonight she was sick 4 times , happy in herself but is being very sicky, she had baby rice pudding at teatime:rolleyes:

She just keeps waking up very soon after she has gone down to sleep this week since I started her back on dairy. Could be totally unrelated but so not like Jem, she normaly has 2 hrs in the morning, now im lucky if she goes 30-40 mins and in the afternoon she use to have an hour now has 20-30 mins and at night she usually goes down at 6.30pm, she is still doing this but is waking up an hour later really hypo and very hard to settle back to sleep?? really odd.

I have replied to this on your other thread :) My eldest daughter kept us guessing when she was a baby with her screaming and nasty nappies and now she is lactose intolerant. I guess she was lactose intolerant then but grew out of it until now (she is in her 20s).

Hi, yes i think dairy can affect behaviour, my 7 year old seems alot more content and happy since being on dairy free, we are tummy pain free now, so that would make a great deal of difference to her.

I can only suggest keeping a food diary, this may help pin point things that upset her. Take this to your consultant or doctor and explain that you still arnt happy, but you would really need advice from a dietition and a consultant on ways of dealing with it, its not something i could have done on my own as i didnt know enough about intolerance's.

Just a last note, it could be that your daughter is tired and isnt catching up on her sleep, perhaps she is just out of her routine, this can make them seem a bit out of sorts. I know what i am like if i have a couple of bad nights sleep i am all out of sync all week. I do believe that if you are worried about her in anyway seek medical advice, and continue to do so until you are happy........ because mum knows best..

Hope that has helped a bit, bit naff at giving advice. Take care
