My youngest daughter has just discovered that this chain has opened a shop in Reading. She has bought me some divine plain chocolate bars with peppermint filling. She asked me to look at the web site

www.hotelchocolat.co.uk (http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/)

and tell her what other chocolate she could buy for me. They have a person search so you can search for vegan, vegetarian, alcohol free or gluten free. There are hardly any chocolates in the vegan section. I did notice that my peppermint bars are labelled vegetarian so I could have some from that section. The problem is that they don't list the ingredients.

I sent a message asking for a dairy free section and this is the reply

"Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee that any of our selections are dairy free."

Another lot covering their backs.
Hmm I will have to send another message. The trouble is that they give a little box to type your message in and you can't write much.

Ok I appear to be the sad member with nothing better to do.

I have written to Hotel Chocolat again and this is their reply

Thank you for your reply, and suggestion of featuring ingredient information on our website.
This is something that we have been considering for a while now, so there is a possibility of us adding this feature in future. However, this would be a large project for us to undertake so this would be more likely after our busy period is over.

There is hope for us yet. I will let you know if and when they do this but it won't be before Xmas I think.

Oh it would be good to have yet another chocolate to add to the list.

My daughter bought the peppermint bars recently and yet they are not on their web site. I think the chocolate must change every now and again.

I must stop thinking about chocolate :lol2:

Ooh, she didn't tell me about that, just that they had one in Watford. Mind you, I still have 8 and a half Swiss Organica milky bars left in my fridge :)

She phoned the other day and had only just discovered that the Oracle now has an Hotel Chocolat. I think she is planning a trip there soon to buy me yet more chocolate.

The peppermint bars were part of my Dec pressie but they have to be eaten by Nov 1. She hadn't realised the eat by date was so soon. They are very nice.

Hi

I emailed them too about having a dairy free list and got the same reply. I thought the more they realise that it matters the more chance there is of getting one...although they validly point out that they cannot guarantee that their products do not have milk traces in them...which makes me wonder how they can claim some are vegan!

Don't think I'll be trying the chocolate though - have you seen the international postage cost!!!

Helen

Thanks for contacting them Helen, as you said the more people that ask the more likely they are to do an ingredient list.

I didn't look at the international postage. I am lucky that my youngest daughter has access to a shop. She has offered to stock up and bring me some when she comes home. She doesn't visit very often :(

Well done Goose. They might wonder what on earth is going on :lol2: I did give them the address for the thread in which we discussed Kinnerton chocolate, advent calendars and err chocolate, so they might be able to work it out.
