Lactolite is a reduced lactose milk but unfortunately it is still cows milk and has cow's milk proteins in it so it is no good for us.

Hello all,

I've been dairy free (ish) in increasing stages for 7 years. For the last 4, i've been totally dairy free, but after doing a York test, and discovering i was also yeast intollerant, and discussion with the nutrionalist- which you get with the york test, i decided perhaps it was time to re-try milk.

The nutritionalist suggested lactolite. Reason is, you can be lactose intollerant, or have a problem with milk protien. So you could be avoiding milk totally, when infact you could actually have one or the the other- which opens up some things to you- some foods contain protien (but no lactose) and many medicines contain lactose (but not milk protien)

I tried lactolite and think I am ok with it. Which means foods with milk protien should be ok.

So if you have been truely free of dairy for 6 months it may be worth giving lactolite a try, but only to test lactose v protien- give me provamel in drinks or breakfasts anyday over lactolite!! ;)

Hi there Gazza,

I am actually on an elimination at the minute and part of the reason is to find out what part of the milk i'm allergic to. I think it maybe milk proteins as drinking lactose reduced milk warranted a severe reaction, could have been the 5% lactose though.

I seriously have to sort this out as the contraceptive pill contains 99.9% lactose per pill.

Oh well, take care.

Lan.
