Site Update

Hi,

Just to let you know that i will be updating the site sometime in the next few days and the site will be unavailable for a couple of hours.

Once the site update is done, the recent spam posts should stop.

I must miss all the spam as I have only seen one spam message today and I reported it.

I've seen 2 today but they have now been deleted. I think spammers are getting clever and doing automated messages because I have seen the same message from the same person on two completely different sites that I use.

I've not done it yet. As i just mentioned in another thread i've been ill this week. Will try to do the site update this weekend.

I've deleted a lot of the spam messages before they have bene seen. In a lot of cases i've been deleting any new users with dodgy usernames or e-mail addresses before any spam messages get posted.

There are programs that you can get which will automate posting spam messages on forums.

You spoilsport! Some of them are quite entertaining and the names of some of those porn links just make the mind boggle - there are some strange people out there.

Spam used to be my nickname at school - "it's Pam" became "sPam".

I loved spam fritters for school dinners, very greasy though.

Just a thought, does spam have milk in? lots of processed meat products do.

don't think so. i think it tends to be the fresh cooked meats that do not the tinned stuff.

I've updated the forums now and everything seems to be working ok, if you find any problems let me know.

The spell check is not working. It opens the box and says done at the bottom but my message does not appear in the box. It is telling porkies when it says done as it has done nothing at all.

Changed the registration system to try and reduce spam and it seems to be working so far. nothing on the site since i did that :)

It seems to be working here. I'll have a proper look at it as soon as i can.
