Hi all - Im so pleased to find this site! I found out 18 months ago that I should avoid dairy, its the hardest thing Ive had to do, but Im so glad, I feel so healthy and full of life, its unreal! I have a friend who's an Iridologist, he asked me if I had problems with my sinuses, when I said yes, he suggested I cut out cheese, so I did. 2 weeks later I had the munchies so ate some pizza, and felt lousy. I realised that was how I felt since I was 14, and thought it was down to smoking! so I gave up ALL dairy. last january I went into denial and ate a whole tub of tiramisu ice cream, within half an hour I had a headache, felt sick, and my throat swelled up. I was ill for 3 weeks after that. Ive sort of got used to it now. Christmas was hard though!
now I found this site, I know that Im not alone, most of my friends thought Id gone mad, some people think Im pretentious. The only sympathy Ive had was from my mum, and my 3 vegan mates. I cant thankyou enough!
luv pixizzy X

Hi Pixizzy,

Am glad that you have found this site as we are all for helping people with food allergies and intolerances.

I myself was diagnosed 5 years ago and found that no-one had an understanding of my condition (not even my Doctor), I sometimes feel living in a rural community didn't help. That's the main reason I set up this website as I felt so isolated and alone. It is so good to know that there are other people out there who understand, and care enough to chat.

When I go out for meals sometimes people can think I'm a fussy eater and that really annoys me, and probably you suffer that as well. I just feel it is ignorance on other people's part, and have learnt to ignore it now. I also have a great partner who can cook almost anything with anything and is fantastic, he is also the website designer.

I am on an elimination diet at the minute to find out what other allergens are affecting me, and by God was Christmas hard. I couldn't even have gravy and the soya flour substitute made by my partner was terrible, and he's a fantastic cook. I know it is hard but don't dispair as most people on the site would be willing to share recipies with you and day-to-day advice.

If you ever need to ask any questions or would like to share advice, please leave a message on the forums. You could also e-mail me privately if needs be.

Kind Regards and Happy New Year.

Lan.
