View Full Version : yum yum donuts!
hi, does anyone out there have a receipe for yum yum's as sold by waitrose or marks and spencers?
they're donuts but lighter than jam/ring donuts tend to be about size and shape of ecclair. but very different in texture.
waitrose's suppliers not willing to divulge details even though i explained why i wanted to make them ie cut out dairy products.
not the end of the world but just something else as a treat every now and then if i can get details.

Hi Matt,
I have a recipe for doughnuts but not yum yums, in fact I have never heard of them before now.
I hope that someone else will be able to help you though, and if I do come across what you need I will be sure to post the recipe for you.
Good Luck and Kind Regards,
Lan
No recipe but I know what you mean. They sell them in Tesco as well now but we used to buy them from Cooplands bakers. Like you say they are long sweet things coated in gooey icing sugar! I think they are deep fried so it isn't something that I would make at home but I'd be interested to see a recipe.
just bought a baking tray from lakeland to make ring donuts in oven. little mini ones. so should be able to make these by adapting the recipe on the back. not going to be the same as yum yums though. i'll let you know the results when i manage to make them.

well, i finally managed to find someone who'd help. dawn foods sells the dry mix for yum yums. i thought they'd tell me to sod off but instead i got a recipe with diagrams! so here it is for anyone who wants to give it a go.
they do look complicated and you do fry them but it's got to be worth it for the occasional treat!

Hi to all,
Yum Yums, originate from Scotland, have since come south of the border, yes they are a lighter mix than doughnuts, do not have a recipe yet myself, they disappeared from circulation for a few years before appearing on the shelf in tesco's. I will see what I can find out and pop msg on site.

joolz2.... thanks but if you look at my reply above you'll see i've been given the recipe and i've posted it here for anyone who wants to try. i've had a bad week or so and haven't got round to trying them myself yet but hopefully soon.
