Hi all. Im setting up a business selling vegan organic home made food online... Im planing on starting with cakes, biscuits, muffins, fudge and thorntons style dark chocs as these are the things I miss most since having to give up dairy. I would really appreciate your thoughts as you are all in the same position as me... what would want most? What are your fav flavours? Is there anything else you wish you could easily buy?
All help very much appreciated.
Cheers!

I am lucky that I can cook so I don't really have too many problems. I have recently stocked up on a few small dairy free chocolate bars. These are useful to take to town when I am shopping. If I get hungry before I get home from town I can at least have my bar of chocolate.
People on this list have mentioned birthday cakes for children. This might be too tricky to post out though.

Yeah, Ive found no matter how many this way up signs you put, they still turn up posted upside down half the time! Ive tried using really hard set icing and icing under the cake to stick it to the cake dome as damage limitation so they only come out with a bit of a cracked look if they are, but any decorative icing would be ruined if they did that. I could definately do them for local pick-up though. thanks! :)

Sounds great!!:)
I'd love to get some sauces for bolognaise, casseroles etc that contain no dairy AND NO ONION/GARLIC!!!!! There is only one I can use at the moment - sun dried tomato flavour.
Oh and some sort of cream that you can put in cakes and on trifles etc. A packet of dairy free cream powder that can be mixed with soya milk (like dream topping).
Not asking for much am I !!!!!!

Goose... thank u very much for your support! Ill let you know when Im up and running!
Linny... Gosh! your right! Ive just tried searching!!! Your stuffed! lol I make all my sauces anyway, and my boyfriend is allergic to onion so Ive got that fairly well figured... If I look into supplying it, how many people would you expect it to serve? any flavours you long for the most?! I cant find any powdered dairy free cream (you can get powdered soya milk), BUT I can get soya spray cream (which I think tastes amazing!) and whippable soya topping cream. Id happily retail them if they are any good to you?

ok.. thinking of supplying other people's brands now as well as my own home made stuff... would any of you be interested in being able to buy online vegan and organic chocolate spread (or choc orange or choc hazelnut), muslei, custard, alpro desserts, baby food, or flapjacks? Anything else you cant get at the supermarkets?

Just a small jar and you can use it twice if you're on your own.
any flavours you long for the most?!
Something to go with chicken (ie chicken tonight!) to make it more interesting but not curry/chilli!! Also I really miss sausage casserole sauce.

Soya spray cream:) , yes please. I get the Alpro cream but haven't been successful at whipping it to make it any thicker.
Another thing I thought of is - Um TOFFEES - haven't had a toffee for years. Oh and my daughter just mentioned the impossible - dairy free/onion/garlic free pizzas!!!!!!?
Thanks for the reply and good luck with your venture.
Whatever you can make!!
I have the knowledge to cook, but am limited by disability, so dairy free decent meals would go down well here :)

Ok guys, here is what I have ordered for other people's brands to sell.... dairy free alternatives to milk choc bars in plain, 60% cocoa mint choc, orange choc and cayenne choc bars, soya spray cream and whipping cream, chocolate spread!!! also in chocolate orange and chocolate hazelenut spread, a couple of instant soups, flapjacks and hazelenut nougat bars, as well as my own range of home made vegan friendly and as far as possible organic...
Cookie style biscuits - peanut butter, lemon & poppy seed, almond, choc chip and vanilla & sultana
Muffins - apple, cinnamon & sultana, banana & walnut, blueberry
Thorntons kind of style posh dark chocs with soft centres - Choloholic range (choc, choc coffee, choc orange), after dinner (mint, orange, coffee), fruit (cherry, raspberry, strawberry & blueberry) and nut (brazil, almond & peanut)
Fudge - chocolate, chocolate orange, chocolate peanut
Cakes - coffee, chocolate orange, lemon, chocolate
What do you guys think? Id like to expand my fudge range and start toffee but I can only seem to perfect anything other than chocolatey fudge with the lactose free milk, soya milk tends to burn, and rice milk and oat milk just ruin the taste.
I thought about ordering some baby foods as well but then realised I wouldnt know where to start! The brands my wholesaler stocks are Hipp, dried baby rice, Jarred (from 4 months) Jarred (from 7 months) Organix and Peter rabbit organics. Same goes for pasta sauces - Ive got Suma, kitchen garden, Mr beans, Nomato, organico, seeds of change and zest. Has anyone tried these? I dont want to stock something disgusting!!! Any ideas anyone?!?
Linny - I gave up on pizza long ago! I cant stand tomatoes, so with no cheese that counts out every normal kind of pizza! I make garlic bread to die for to make up for it though! Cant do it online though as it would have to be kept refrigerated.
Hopefully my website should be done in the next 3 weeks...fingers crossed... and Ill be gearing up for my stall at the Wirral Food show at the end of august. Its all getting very exciting and real now!!! Any of you likely to be going?

I think I would buy sweets which do not have dairy, soya, chocolate and the whole range of other things which make me ill so boiled sweets with no artificial flavourings or toffee or a rice milk fudge if you ever perfect such a thing. A simple boiled sweet with lemon for flavour!!!

Hi,
Let me know what you decide to make! I opened a shop and online store for people with allergies and intolerances last year and I'm always looking for new products and am especially keen to support smaller producers. Whereabouts are you based? Good luck.

Thanks Helen, that sounds brilliant. Im based in the Wirral near Liverpool, so a bit of a way from you. What products do you find sell best from your online shop? How is your proper shop going?

I really miss lasagne. I could probably have a bash at making it myself but I'm very lazy and a lousy cook! I also miss soups and cook-in sauces for chicken (think someone mentioned it earlier).
Sounds like a wonderful idea. I've often thought someone should open a dairy free restaurant - not me obviously as we've already established I can't cook for toffee. Speaking of which, the fudge sounds like a great idea. Can't remember the last time I had a piece of fudgey yumminess!

Id do that if I won the lottery! Or a nice little cafe... Its just all the set up costs :-S My web site is almost complete now, and Ive got 2 weeks before the wirral food and drink festival so Im making fudge like a madman trying to make enough stock to bring... then my business will be officially up and running!! How exciting!!!

Good luck with your venture. I am sure that you will sell as much fudge as you can make :)
