Have any of my lactose intollerent friends out there been brave enough to try cheese made from milk from an animal other than cow? I'm thinking goat, sheep, buffalo etc?

When I was first lactose intolerant I tried some goats cheese. I thought that it was disgusting. My lactose tolerance changed and within two years I became totally lactose intolerant. All cheese would make me ill now.

for me they are actually even worse :(
Never tried them but then again I have problems with the protein as well as the lactose.
Someone on here quite likes buffalo mozzarella on their pizzas, if I remember correctly.
I remember eating some goats cheese before I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance and my belly really swelled up so I haven't dared trying it again.

I could tolerate some goats cheese and sheeps cheese (both of which I love )and milk to start with but after a few months I became intolerant to those too. If you can tolerate them they are a tasty way to get your calcium.

I had some goats cheese before I was lactose intolerant and it was disgusting. But then I don't like cheese :)

I can eat goat's cheese without a problem - but I am whey intolerant and apparently the whey in goat's cheese is different to the whey in cow's cheese. However, I used to be a strong tasting cheddar type of girl and goat's cheese is totally different to that! It has a strong smell and distinct taste!
