Just come back today (13/09/02) from Centre Parcs, based at Longleat. I have to say that my stay there was very enjoyable, as they cater well for allergies.

My first meal was at the Sports Cafe and I found that all menus contained an item, which specified if you had an allergy to speak to them before ordering. They were very helpful there and told me I couldn't have the onion rings, as they contained WHEY powder. I have to admit I was shocked, as I have never had anyone specify a milk product like this, other than an ingredient that states milk clearly.

We also we went to Huckleberry's and again they were fantastic, they also had the information about requesting about allergies before ordering.
I told the waitress that I couldn't have dairy, and she said that she would fetch the chef, who under these circumstances likes to speak to the allergy sufferer. I spoke to the chef and he was amazing and very friendly. He really knew his stuff.

I would definitely recommend Longleat Centre Parcs, to anyone with a dairy allergy.

Marks out of 10 - 9

Wow, 8O um I've just read the Centre Parcs thing, I went to the Longleat one too in Nov 2002 and didn't notice any of this helpful allergy stuff. I'm a Coeliac and my toddler daughter has a rather dramatic milk allergy. The scary thing is I assume all eating outlets won't be able to help much and I don't ask. We had a great break and relied mostly on eating in. Next time I'll check out the places you mentioned. :P

Hi Mich,

Just read your message about Longleat Centre Parks.

My advice is always ask when going to eat out. Most places will try and help, and if your ever unsure you can always leave it.

People, I feel are becoming more aware of allergies, and chefs are more helpful than they used to be.

Another place that has a list of all ingredients of the foods they serve are Beefeaters, and I would definetly recommend them.

I am however only allergic to milk and so am talking from that point of view, but please always ask when eating out. I find people are definetly more helpful now.

Hope this is helpful, and good luck for the future.

Kind Regards :D
