Hi everyone!
I've been searching for ages to find a dairy-free sugar-free ice cream. I thought I found it through google when I found First-Food's Oat Supreme range, specifically Oat Supreme Lite http://www.first-foods.com/icecreamlite.htm
I emailed First Foods to find a stockist, but the email returned undeliverable. Plus, if you go direct to the homepage http://www.first-foods.com/ it says down for maintenance. It looks like First Foods are no more :(

Has anyone found these products either recently or in the past?
Does anyone know of another dairy-free sugar-free ice cream, or is it back to trying to make my own?

Many Thanks.

I have never seen this alternative ice cream. I do use their oat milk and oat cream which is stocked by Tesco.

I hope the milk and cream is still available when I go to Tesco next week.

I contacted them by email last night and had a very nice reply today - see below.

Although we mention ice cream on our milk and cream cartons, we have not
been able to supply it since our ice cream packer recently went out of
business. We have been exploring how we can get fresh ice cream mix from our
factory to someone with the technical capability of producing none-dairy ice
cream and it is proving very difficult. Our production site is in Northern
Ireland and the nearest ice cream factory with specialist equipment is in
Belgium. Our ice cream mix needs to be shipped chilled and needs to be used
within 4 days at the moment non company will guarantee being able to do it.
We are daily looking into ways we can get back into the business. If you can
get the cream we have a simple recipe to make fresh ice cream.

Thanks for getting in touch with them - much appreciated!
that very interesting. It's nice when people give reasons behind things like this. I hope they find a way to get the ice cream back to market. With the right marketing it could be a huge summer hit. Beside the non-dairy market, the lite ice cream would appeal to diabetics too.

Oat Supreme Cream (non dairy and non soya) is fantastic - much the best taste - but waitrose stopped stocking it, and the last lot I got from veggiestuff was virtually out of date. Why so hard to get hold of? Great over frozen stewed fruit (sorbet), or (choc) cake made with Vitaquell.

I have been in touch with the company and spoke to a very nice man.

There is a problem which he is doing his best to fix. It is a long story which I won't go into here. I will be contacting the company again next week for the latest news. As soon as I know something I will post it here.

I love this cream. I make chocolate mousse and ice cream with it.

The problem also affects their oat milk :crying:

I don't think I've ever had Oat Supreme. I've had Oatly quite recently which I enjoyed, I'm trying rice milk again at the moment and made cheese and bacon pasta which went quite well despite it's appearance and smell!!
I'm trying not to be totally soya reliant so I'd be interested to hear when Oat Supreme returns.

The news about the First Foods Supreme oat cream and milk is looking good.

I need to check again next week. I will post again when I know for sure that they will be back in the shops.

The milk should still be available. The cream is not available at the moment.

I have made weekly phone calls to First Foods.

I am happy to tell you that their oat cream and oat milk will be back in production. The cartons will be slightly different and will have a screw top. I have been told that my health food shop should be able to order it from their supplier in the second week of August :)

First Foods are also hopeful that they can get their oat ice cream back into production too :D

Great news, mine is so out of date. Just hope Tesco or someone will also stock it, especially the cream as there is no alternative for that, unlike their milk. Will you be able to order from them direct I wonder? Thanks again.

I am planning another phone call to the firm to check that things are ok. I will ask about buying direct. It might help if I knew where you lived Murcia. I will report here when I have the latest news.

My local friendly health food shop should be able to order the cream in for me.

Down here Tesco was the only supermarket which stocked the cream. Sainsburys and Tesco used to sell the milk. I hope that they stock the milk again.

I have really missed the cream and milk. I have been using another brand of oat cream and milk and it is not as good.

I have phoned the company again and there is a bit of a problem with packaging now. They still intend to get their oat products on the shelves but it will take a bit longer.

They are asking people who are interested in their oat products to send an email to

chris@first-foods.com

All you need to say is that you are interested in their oat products. They probably will not reply but they will send you an email when they have some news.
