Hi,

I am new to this site but hope someone, somewhere can help me!

My partner is lactose intolerant and has just had quite a major operation. As a result she is finding it very hard to sleep at night at the moment. The problem we are finding is that it seems nearly all sleeping tablets have lactose in them - does anybody know of any type of sleeping tablet that does not?

We have tried all the usual over the counter remedies like Kalms and they have not helped at all. Our doctor has prescribed 2 or 3 brands but these all seem to have lactose in them and any that don't seem impossible to obtain.

I find it hard to believe that with so many people being lactose intolerant that there aren't products out there so if anybody has any suggestions I would be very grateful!!!

Thanks

I have not had any experience with sleeping tablets so I can't help. Have you asked your local pharmacy/chemist?

Yes we have asked - there do seem to be some tablets out there but most Pharmacies use specific Wholesalers none of which seem to stock them so we have drawn a blank so far. Our local Pharmacist has promised to try and help but I thought someone here may have some experience or insight....

I can sympathise, I have a faulty sleep rhythm due to a neurological disorder and rely on sleeping tablets to help me.
My consultant eventually gave me a benzodiazepine, which came in a liquid form. These however are highly addictive and only meant to be short term, up to a maximum of 2 weeks (there are exceptions to this rule).
