Hi
I haven't been online for quite some time but have had an interesting development so thought I'd get in touch.
I recently went into hospital to have minor keyhole surgery to remove a cyst on one of my ovaries. However, when the surgeon looked inside me he could not see my ovary so he opened me up. He then found that endometriosis had caused lesions and scarring on my intestines. He cleaned this up and removed the cyst.
When I came round I was rather surprised to discover that the surgery had been more major than expected and started to do some research on endometriosis. It turns out that this is sometimes misdiagnosed as IBS (that sounded familiar). So I began to wonder whether there was a connection between my dairy intolerance and the endometriosis. Initially my digestion was all over the place but once things had settled down I decided to try a small amount of dairy in my diet and I have had no problems. I have not eaten cheese but milk, butter/marg, mince pies... seem to cause no problems. I am taking it a step at a time but it looks as though my problem may be sorted.
I had none of the 'normal' signs and symptons for endometriosis so it was complete chance that it was discovered. I guess I am very lucky.
I hope everyone has fun this Christmas and a peaceful and problem free 2009.
Best wishes
Helen
