I'm grumpy about my visit to Shakeaway in Brighton on Friday night. They used to have separate jugs marked DAIRY FREE, but now this has been scrapped in favour of one marked VEGAN, so I was refused a dairy free crunchy nut cornflake shake because it couldn't be made in the vegan jug as in contained honey.
Now I feel bad for whining about this, as I don't want the vegans upset by honey being in their jug, but I don't want to be refused my choice in a place that actually makes nice stuff I can consume. I'm not vegan, I want my honey goodness :(
And yes, I am being childish about this. I'm just sick of having to be grateful for small mercies when it comes to my food

I would be grumpy too. I wonder who decided that a vegan jug was a good idea. Perhaps a letter of complaint to the manager is called for :)
I think it is more important that somebody who has to be dairy free through illness is kept happy rather than somebody who just chooses to be vegan. Expect this may upset a few folks but I don't choose to be dairy free. And why can't vegans have honey? It isn't as though the bees are harmed in anyway when they produce it. I'm confused:unsure:
No wonder you are grumpy - I wouldn't be happy either.
I think a letter to the manager of either the chain or the branch or in fact both is in order. I must say I do agree with Jill, being DF isn't a lifestyle choice for us (although it is for some), but we can't win, it's one extreme or the other!! Regarding the bees Jill it's something to do with the unethical treatment of them and some other things.
I can quite understand people not wanting to eat meat or fish as the animal is being killed to be eaten, but honey is taking it in my opinion a bit far - each to there own.

Yes I get so fed up when we get lumped in with vegans! As you say theirs is a lifestyle choice and we don't have any.

i went to a shakeaway recently and they still had a jug that said 'dairy free'...
