Hello :)

I don't know how long I have been allergic to dairy for.. I would say at least a decade although I was only diagnosed a few years ago.

I also have other allergies including yeast, honey, oats, fresh strawberries, pineapple, kiwi, rock melon, honeydew melon, mushrooms, mold, pollen, bee stings, dust mites and even tap water. Also food additives and preservatives. I can't have sheep or goat products either.

Then I have food intolerances too. soy, onion, garlic, leek, wheat, barley, semolina, chili...

And I'm still in testing...

I was given Creon Forte to take daily with food. These are basically capsules filled with enzymes from a pigs pancreas to replace some of the enzymes I'm missing to help me digest food.

I take Nilsat for killing yeast 3 times a day since I'm allergic to the yeast my own body produces. Without the tablets I suffer from serious fatigue and sleep pretty much day and night...

I'm doing immunotherapy for pollen and dust mites. I still have another year of injections every month to go.. The funniest thing is that I'm actually allergic to a preservative in the allergen solution so after every injection, a giant painful ball forms in my arm and its very sore and tender for up to a week.

I can only have filtered water. Boiling it, just isn't enough..

So thats me.. I'm a freak.. but my partner is a chef and he is very supportive. He creates delicious meals for me. Does most of the talking to waiters when we go out to eat so its not me every time having to explain my condition. AND we are hoping to buy a cafe in the next few months, there will be very few items on the menu that aren't allergy friendly or that can be made to be allergy friendly because my partner and I have a vast knowledge of alternative products..

We even plan on buying an industrial ice cream machine to make dairy free, soy free and gluten free icecream by using almond milk and coconut cream..

This is turning into a long intro... :)

Welcome to the site, you certainly are up against it.

It is great your partner is so supportive I always feel sorry for myself when I eat out it is such a battle and I often think I wish there was someone to help me say all this stuff.

I have had problems with a diagnosis for some of my problems and I always think I could be more assertive if I had one.

Welcome to the site. You have more than your fair sure of allergies. It is good to hear that your partner is supportive.

Eating out is a worry over here. I vet places carefully and I have been ok so far. We only go out to eat two or three times a year.

I am lactose intolerant so I used to eat soya ice cream and not that often. I am now soya intolerant. I have seen ice cream made with oat milk over here but it contains coconut oil. I am intolerant to coconut. Oh well sorbet is nice. :lol2:

Lets see.. first i got the pin prick test.. I got an arm full of hives from that.. they tested for 20 things and I pretty much had a reaction of some degree to everything.

I had two more pin prick tests in the next 12 months after the first one..

I then had to have the glucose blood test.. that was horrific.. fasting over night.. then having a blood test. drinking lactose, then a blood test every 15 minutes for the next hour and half... each time a new needle! i couldn't move my arms for days afterwards..

then i had a dilution thing where they put different levels of a diluted allergen under your tongue and you wait for a reaction.. i think i'm clocking up around 12 hours of sitting there in testing..

and then i did an elimination diet. i've done all the foods and now i have to take capsules of preservatives and additives..

i too swapped to soy milk only to find out that i have an intolerance to it.

and my symptoms.. hives, itchiness, stomach cramps so bad that i cant stand up, bloating to the point i look pregnant, chronic hayfever, fatigue, nausea, chronic diarrhea (once for a whole month), itchy mouth, sinus infections, throat swelling up, puffy eyes, breathing difficulties, rashes, migraines, light sensitivity, gums feeling like they are raw and cut open.. there are probably more but i cant remember them right now.. since i started testing i have been made to list every reaction so i have a whole notebook of symptoms..

oh god, sounds terrible, i get some of the same symptoms of u but i have had new development, i most likely have a yeast infection, my most recent allergy tests showed i cant tolerate yeast, brewers yeast, molds or wine, beer, lager etc, but since i didnt know and was still eating those foods then thts wat prob caused the yeast infection.

may i ask what do u eat lol, this where im gonna struggle now as i have to cut all yeast and malt foods and sugar in all its forms.

well right now as I'm reading this forum I'm eating a risotto made with homemade stock, wheat free ham and spinach.. i love it..

a lot of stock in stores has yeast extract in it, so watch out for that.

the bread i eat is either a 100% rye bread or kumat or sometimes spelt. i really had to look around to find bread that was yeast, wheat and dairy free.

for breakfast i might have two pieces of toast with nuttelex, two poached eggs, spinach and grilled tomato..

or i found one brand of cornflakes that has no malt or barley so i'll have a bowl of that with rice milk and blueberries or nectarines..

or sometimes a smoothie with raspberries, apple juice and lemon sorbet..

i love hummus.

oh and fish.. i have quite a bit of that for dinner.. soup i also make. like a bean and lentil soup that i puree at the end so its thick..

i bake my own cakes and cookies..

honestly, this whole food thing is a pain in the ass until you really sit down and figure it all out. then shopping and cooking becomes easier after that... eating out is never easy bit at least it can be possible once you know what you can and cant eat..

u seem to eat quite well so im sure i can do it too, my prob is low budget and i find the sugar thing quite hard. so im not gonna be to hard on tht, but will mainly cut it out. just bought some xyilotol. and some yeast free stock cubes.

also i love the sourdough fresh bread, though it was expensive at £2.50.

i think i will just have to experiment and see what meals i can come up with.

ooh what is the cornflakes?

have u found a salad cream or mayo tht has no vinegar? as apparently this is some sort of yeast or mold and i cant eat it.

You could make your own mayo with egg yolks and oil.. apparantly the trick is to add just one drop of oil to start with then mix it in a bit at a time as you are making an emulsion. eg oil and fat

i do sometimes make it but i have found store brands that i can eat... i miss pesto.. it always has cheese in it.. that i have to make at home.

i make my own hummus a lot.. i love that with some corn chips..

I live in australia.. i found it in coles and its just the coles brand cornflakes..

they do make a "special" allergy free cornflakes but they cost 2.5 times as much and the box is tiny, which is a ripe off.. you might just have to do what i did and go to every grocery store and check the ingredients..

they taste very similar.. i used find the normal cornflakes to be really addictive... i would just sit there and eat them out of the box.. but with these, its like they are missing that sugary addictive taste... thats the only difference really..
