Have just found this cheese alternative brand on the internet, has anyone tried it?
If so, is it worth trying?

Before I developed a soya intolerance I used to eat Scheese. I bought mine in the local health food shop (kept in their fridge).

Others here didn't like it. You will only know by tasting it yourself. A word of warning - no cheese alternative tastes like cheese! You have to decide if you like the alternative as a food in its own right.

I just signed in after months and months and am amazed this thread is still up...
I recently found in my supermarket a cheese by lactofree, its cheese with the lactose taken out or something..
all i know is i can eat it without the stomach pains and its cheese..
*happy*

Hi, newly registered user here, i have tried sheese before, and i found it... different, kind of powdery tasting, lactofree cheese is indeed nice, if your looking for a good dairy free cheese style spread i would wholeheartedly recommend Toffuti, they are an american firm who do loads of dairy free foodstuffs but for some reason the only ones available here are the spreads, and their new range of ice cream cones (unlike the spreads the cones aren't that nice)

I have tried tofutti chocolate ice cream before actually, bought from holland and barrett. it was ok but very icy, not a lot of flavour, i bought a big tub and i think its still in the back of the freezer...
i might try their spreads though if i can find somewhere that sells them.

the tofutti ice cream i tried was vanilla cones, they were very bland, the best cones i have found are Swedish Glace, they only do them in strawberry & vanilla (that i've found) but they also do tubs of vanilla, raspberry, and neapolitan which as you probably know is a mix of chocolate vanilla and strawberry, so perhaps they do the strawberry and chocolate seperately too, though i have not found any yet.

Tofutti spreads i get from my local health shop (keep yourself right) but holland & barrett also sell them i believe, their website doesn't bring any results up but my local holland & barrett sell food items as that's where i got my tofutti cones from.

Tofutti in the uk also have cheese alternative slices and are the best slices i have found to date, the Pure ones available at asda are ok too but not the best, and cheezly are just disgusting and taste like eating polyfiller (i presume having never tasted polyfiller :))

this link is to a uk web based store that sell tofutti products amongst other dairy free stuff

Hope this has been of some help

My local health food shop has a whole shelf in a long fridge cabinet dedicated to the various types of fake cheese it's quite impressive, they even do a fake stilton these days!!

They also sell booja booja icecream which is absolutely gorgeous especially the chocolate,as far as I remember it tastes pretty much like frozen decent chocolate but it's rather expensive.

what is the name of your local health shop?perhaps they have a website like most local shops do now to compete with bigger stores/online retailers

It's part of the Revital Health food shops, but they don't seem to sell much of the food online, but you may find you have one of the stores near you.
