It would be a good idea to check out your local health food store where quite a range of products will get you started. they should be able to point you in the direction of an egg substitute which is used in baking by vegan people.

You can then replace the egg in cakes and biscuits with this and the butter with something like a pure margarine and make lovely cakes.

For my kids early birthdays I baked cakes in really big tins and then cut them into fun shapes (Elmer, Batman and a pink spotty dinosaur) were a few we did. These were then either iced with different coloured buttercream (use pure margarine!) or water based icing which was then decorated by painting on food colourings. Nowadays they just like a chocolate cake with loads of sweets chucked on top.

You can also hire tins.

Some supermarkets do dairy free chocolate buttons in their freefrom sections and if you search for chocolate on this site you will find AMPLE information, but still ask if you want to know something specific.

I think a lot of people with young children also like to do things like dips and sticks of nice fresh veg as treats as well as lovely fruits.

Just noticed Claires link on pizzas, decorating your own pizzas is also fun even for very little ones. I made pizzas for my sons birthdays as quite a good way to feed lots of people and you can just make them with yeast, strong white bread flour and olive oil with nice thin crispy bases. kids love them.

I just use my favourite cake recipe and replace butter with Vitalite (dairy free spread). I use Organ no egg to replace eggs. My local health food shop sells the Organ no egg.

I just made DF cakes for both my DDs' birthdays a few weeks back. At the present time we don't (ahem) have an issue with eggs but I did replace butter with Pure sunflower spread. I couldn't use the soya spread as MIL doesn't like soya.

Marks & Spencer also do a dairy free spread - it's sunflower as well and really nice in cooking.

Hope it goes well :)
