I know it's still a little early but I like to be prepared - and the eggs have been in the shops since Christmas lets face it! I was just wondering if anyone knew where I could get dairy free easter gifts from, or if there were any regular eggs that are dairy free (I know some dark chocolate ones probably are). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You could try D & D Chocolates (http://www.d-dchocolates.com/).
They normally do a range of easter products.
Green and Black's Maya Gold or plain dark chocolate eggs are fine (don't get the ones with praline mini eggs though). Kinnerton also do a Bart Simpson dairy free/nut free egg with jellies inside. Both are available from Sainsbury's (most stores) and should be less than £3.00 each.
Duchy Originals and Booja Booja also do dairy free eggs but are rather more expensive.
After Eight eggs ARE NOT dairy free - the chocolate for the egg contains butter fat.
Hi all,
Thanks for that information Pam, really like the sound of the Bart Simpson egg and will be looking for that. Big kid at heart really.
If I hear of any more will let you all know.
Leanne.

Thanks guys, I love Green and Blacks's Maya Gold so will definitely look out for that egg! :naughty:
Also remembered that Allergycare make some 'speckled eggs' which are dairy free mini eggs. These used to be sold in Sainsbury's but I've not seen any for sale anywhere recently.
I'm sure I heard of something similar to a cadbury's creme egg in a dairy free version last year but I never found any for sale. I will make a point of hunting for one.
PS The Kinnerton eggs were £1.99 last year in Sainsbury's (yellow and orange box with Bart Simpson on - but don't get them confused with the other Simpson eggs - it clearly says on the box of these that they are dairy free etc.) I got a couple the other week in Tradex for £1.79 each.
I've been told that none of the supermarkets have taken up Kinnerton's dairy free eggs this year but you can buy them direct from Kinnerton at £5.99 each!!!! (all proceeds to the anyphalaxis campaign). I'm glad I got mine when I spotted them at Tradex.
I spied some miniature after eight eggs at the local supermarket last night but didn't get chance to check the label. I will look into this and report back - these might be good creme egg alternatives.
Hi all,
Another option for dairy free produce is the Vegan Society, as they are dairy free due to containing no animal products. Do a range of chocolates, and may have some easter eggs.
Lan. :woot:
or make them yourself using suitable freefrom choc. i'm sure i saw the molds on sale in lakeland or somewhere. hell of a lot cheaper. you pay through the nose for lots less choc just because it's shaped like an egg.

I read that the Elizabeth Shaw Easter Eggs were Diary free. Is that Right? Fingers Crossed.
Elizabeth Shaw dark chocolate mint crisps don't have any milk products on the label but as we all know, that's no guarantee. I tried e-mailing the company last year and got no response at all. I think that they are probably safe for the average dairy intolerant person but anyone with a severe allergy should be careful because they also produce milk chocolate so there is a risk of cross contamination. I have never seen their eggs though - where are they sold?
By the way, Kinnerton give you a free dairy free egg if you donate £5 to the Anyphalaxis campaign. You have to get them via Kinnerton and they only have limited supplies.

I've seen them in Tesco. Thought I was on to a winner there. Might try emailing them myself.
The Stamp Collection have a dairy free chocolate bunny for sale at £3.49 (100g). I've seen this for sale at Sainsburys.
I got another 2 kinnerton eggs from Tradex today - bargain at £1.79 each, they are for a friend who has a nut allergic, milk intolerant nephew.

Dear Pam,
as I was in Sainsbury's today I asked if they were having any dairy free Easter eggs in this year. Certainly for our local store, the answer seems to be no!
Bit of a shame really!,

Dear Pam,
I am trying to get some Easter eggs for my son, who is allergic to Dairy. You mentioned that you got some eggs from Tradex. Where is that?
Thanks,
Miranda.
Tradex is around West Yorkshire, it started off being a strict membership place like Makro but they have relaxed the rules a lot these days and you only have to fill a form in and pay £2 lifetime membership to get a pass. There are branches in Huddersfield and Leeds see their website www.tradex-online.co.uk for other branches.
You might still find Kinnerton eggs in a local health food shop or failing that, contact Gillian Phillpot at Kinnerton Customer Services (on the contact us part of www.kinnerton.com) and she might be able to send you one for a donation of £5 to the anaphylaxis campaign.
If all else fails D & D chocolates do them by mail order (www.d-dchocolates.com).
I can recommend Green & Black's Maya Gold egg which is dairy free and has a lovely orange flavour.
I forgot to say - those miniature after eight eggs contain butterfat so they are out of the equation. I must go and look for the Elizabeth Shaw eggs.
