Hello guys...
I am new to your site today....
I have been reading lots of your replies to threads on this site and have taken lots of notes!
I have had severe IBS for 5-6 yrs. Out of desparation I did a Yorktest to discover I had to avoid sunflower oil, certain nuts etc. But not dairy.
My dr at my local hospital has advised me to try a dairy free diet for 3-4 wks to see if my symptoms improve.
I love home baking, especially cakes and pastries and have to avoid sunflower oil, so wouldn't be able to use Pure, is there an alternative?
My normal breakfast is porridge made with milk, has anyone found which milk is best for this, rice/soya/oat?
Thank you all so much for being here, I look forward very much to your replies, its so lovely to know Iam not alone with this. It feels very daughting at the moment, especially if I carry it on long term.

Welcome to the site.

Has cutting out sunflower oil helped? Just curious :lol2:

You could try using the Pure soya for baking. It contains soya and vegetable oils. It is dairy free.

I used to use soya milk for my coffee and despite not replacing all dairy with soya, I have developed an intolerance to soya now  I make my porridge with oat milk and tastes very nice to me. Rice milk in coffee is yuk. The oat milk in coffee is fine as it still tastes of coffee.

Make sure you check ingredient labels for hidden dairy.

No cutting out the sunflower stuff hasn't really helped, so willing to ditch this and try dairy free. I am desparate to relieve some of these awful symptoms, hoping with everything crossed dairy free works, it seems a very small price to pay if it works!
Thank you for the info on Pure, will give it a go! My next trip to the supermarket will be a long one I feel, looking at the packaging!
Where do you buy oat milk? Our local Adsa dosen't sell it.
It must be very annoying now not being able to have soya, have you found suitable alternatives?
Do you know if there is a recipe out there for dairy free chocolate cake?
Lovely to chat to you xx:)

Welcome to the site.

I have IBS too so know what you are going through. I found cutting out dairy and all gluten bought me a 90% improvement. Unfortunately I now have to try a new asthma drug which they kindly put either lactose or sweeteners in so it is back to the daily hell of IBS. The sweeteners cause me worse problems than the lactose because they are alcohol based and I cant process alcohol.

I have found ispahalga husk helps quite a bit, but need to watch this space because things are definitely getting worse and that can give you allergies too.

Like Copper I too have developed soya intolerence - it is one to watch for.

good luck with your first dairy free shop.

I buy my oat milk (Oatly) from Tesco. I have seen it in a health food shop. If you can't find it in a supermarket you could try asking your local health food shop if they would order it in for you.

I have just checked on line and Asda here sell oatly so you must be unlucky where you live.

Chocolate cake recipe - use your usual recipe and replace butter with dairy free margarine of your choice. I think that the Stork block wrapped in foil? or similar is dairy free. I keep forgetting and just use Vitalite dairy free marg for everything. I use cocoa when I make chocolate cakes. If you dont have a standard recipe let us know and I am sure that we can give you one.

When you shop look for hidden dairy in foods. This list on this site might help
