Hi everyone
I found out about this site from a link I was given from my darling husband. :)
I have found out that I was allergic to dairy products in all kinds of form for 16 years ago, and since a year ago I have to carry an epipen.
I found it hard to adjust to the fact that I couldn't eat everything that I was used to, but now after so many years I have come to live a pretty normal life. What I can find it's the hardest now is when someone ask you to come over for a meal or going to a resturant. Have lost count to how many times I have been poorly from eating out, even that you are talking to the chef more then once.:headbang: Is there anyone out there that feels the same, or have any suggestions how to pass this hurdle.

Thanks for this forum :)

Welcome to the site Henna.

I have not been ill yet after eating out. All you can do is ring the restaurant before making a booking and talking to the chef. I usually remind them when I get there too. I guess that I have been lucky so far.

I found that I was OK to eat at Starbucks, but they have taken all of the sandwiches without milk away. I asked why and the answer I got back was "we don't have to cater for dairy free and gluten free, we have the soya milk beccuse it's lower in cholesterol". I really did like them before that beccuse i could go in to town and feel "normal"

Hi Hena and welcome to the site. I am lactose intolerant not allergic but also have very high intolerence to gluten or pehaps coeliac disease - eating out is a nightmare for me and I often get ill afterwards. I have found one place I can completely trust which is terre a terre in brighton but my husband doesnt like it much there. otherwise I have pretty much given up. next year I have a couple of weekends away which might be difficult to manage.

I am sure an allergy is much harder to cope with.

As for feeling normal I am sure it is a matter of time, when I first became a veggie nobody catered for them and now it is standard practice.
