Hi - my 10 year old has just been diagnosed with an intolerance to milk proteins. I think that was the precise description - this was via the GP and we are waiting to see the paediatrician at the hospital again at the end of the month.
Well, her two favourite foods - apart from pasta - are cheese and chocolate! No problem with the chocolate as she loves her dark choc, but cheese? GP said she could have goat/sheep/buffalo but some allergy sites say otherwise. What experience do others here have?
Second question - can you successfully heat soya milk in recipes or is there a better alternative? I added some Alpro original and a dash of Alpro cream to soup the other day and it went all grainy. Tasted fine, looked a bit odd.:(
Many thanks!!

Welcome to the site.

As I understand it goats milk proteins are slightly different to cows milk proteins. This is why your doctor has said she should be ok with goats, etc. There is a chance that she might eventually develop a problem with goats milk proteins.

In my experience soya milk and oat milk curdles if they are added to very hot liquids. I try to not look at my coffee after I have added the dash of oat milk. We have tinted (brown) glass cups so I do notice the curdled effect :lol2:

Thanks for that!
It's a good thing there are so many nice goat's cheeses around. I guess I could try cooking with goat's milk too ... might solve the problem of shutting my eyes to eat my soup!:)
