Hi all,

I've just joined this forum, and from what I've been reading so far, think its going to be great adding and obtaining information.
I have a dairy allergy which started happening when I was around 17. Its also touch sensitive, if I touch milk, my hands break out in a rash! :(

Previously I had a fish allergy, which caused horrible reactions, but now I can eat fish no problem what so ever. Strange eh. I also have a sensitivity to something else as my lips swell up - like botox gone wrong ;), but the dr said that they cannot narrow down what it is, so basically I have to keep a food diary.

All that considered, I am a foodie, and love experimenting with recipes and testing them out on friends. So will definitely be contributing to the recipes board. Also considering writing about some restaurants that take extra care to people with dairy allergies/intolerances.

Well, here's to happy posting!!

Hi and welcome:)

I have a dairy allergy, lactose intolerance and a problem with oats, unclear as to whether it's an allergy or an intolerance at the moment. As well as other non food based allergies. I hope that you like it here, would be good to see some of your recipes.
Writing about considerate restaurants sounds like a good plan, I provide a multiple of challenges to them (not just with food), so it's always fun to see how they react. I had quite a good experience in a Wetherspoons in central London the other day quite surprisingly.

Welcome to the site.

I have lactose intolerance and a number of other food intolerances. The only one which causes problems eating out is the lactose.

The posher the restaurant the more likely it is that I can't eat anything :)

Recipes sound a good idea to me. I am useless at experimenting and I am really not interested in food. I guess this stems from a lifetime of feeling very ill because nobody knew I had lactose intolerance, well it was the dark ages back then :D

Restaurants who can cope with people like us do deserve a special thread all of their own. Perhaps if we get a big enough list we could ask Steve (list owner and boss man :)) to make a section for them.

Hello, I used to have the same problem as you! Sometimes when I touch things with dairy in them, my had gets itchy and sore, it looks a bit like a heat rash. Also, when I eat something I shouldn't , my lips swell up. I hope you find out what else you are allergic to!
