Wow, am I glad I found this site!

My name's Nicola/Nikki and I'm 22. I recently found out I was lactose intolerant through trial and error. I thought I had IBS for quite a few years but my ex boyfriend (who was also lactose intolerant and had a wheat allergy) reckoned it was this. Turns out it was!

I find being dairy free quite difficult so I do buy the lactase enzyme tablets from Holland and Barrett but they don't work as well if I have anything with milk or cream; however if I take a pill and then have some cheese I am ok. I am slowly learning what I can and can't handle!

:bwelcome: to the site. I am totally lactose intolerant and only use lactase when I eat out if I don't trust them.

Hi and welcome to the site. I'm allergic to milk, and lactose intolerant as well as having a problem with oat milk and most likely oats in general, but I'm too scared to try them ;) It does get easier being dairy free, I remember when I finally gave up milk, I was around 19, and it was strange at first, but I'm nearly 24 now, and don't even think about it so don't worry about it too much.

It's good to try and keep some dairy in your diet, as otherwise you end up completely lactose intolerant which can be problematic if you need to take medication as a lot has small amounts of lactose in it.

I hope you like it here, and get used to your dairy free life quickly.
