I have recently discovered by accident that I am lactose intolerant.
For more years than I care to remember I had been diagnosed with IBS and 5 years ago was also diagnosed with Asthma in my 40's.
For years I had been ill, not sleeping, feeling ill all the time and constantly having problems with my bowels (I won't go into details........) then after suffering various chest infections for years and being given antibiotics by doctors I was told I had asthma which I found hard to believe.
My problems seem to have started after I had my gall bladder removed 15 years ago, since that date not a day had gone by without me feeling sick and constantly going to the toilet, I had visited a herbalist but nothing was picked up.
Then after trying all sorts of things even cutting out milk, I decided I had to find out what was wrong with me as the doctors could not diagnose me either and I felt like a hypochondriac.
I started by putting my symptoms on the internet and doing a google search, a common thing that was being said was that I could be lactose intolerant! what was this? I had no idea so set about investigating it.
I decided to cut out all cows milk products from my diet (I love cheese!) but I do not eat processed foods so it was pretty easy I made all my main meals and didn't eat out.... within 24-48 hours I noticed a massive difference and to date have also noticed I no longer have:
Sleepless nights
Feeling sick especially in the middle of the night and on waking
Bloating or Wind
Constipation/Diarrhea
Tiredness, Irratability, bad PMS, Depression
Plus lots of other symptoms
Todate I feel fantastic, although I do have goats cheese, goats butter, soya etc with no problems I do now investigate everything I buy food wise as I was unaware that some sweetners had lactose in them like Coke and even crisps...
Everyday is a new journey food wise for me now and I am amazed at what junk we put into our bodies everyday.
I will visit this site and update this thread when I find out anything new to report which may help other sufferers.
