I rang James' dietician this morning as she said that we could attempt his dairy challenge at 2 and a half years of age. She has suggested being more relaxed about dairy in biscuits and baked goods and to try swapping his dairy free margarine to normal margarine. I have to try that for 2-3 weeks and if he is okay then I start on 1/2 tsp of petit filous or yoghurt and increase by 1/2 a teaspoon a day until he is taking a full pot by the end of that week. I am nervous and I am keeping everything crossed that he will be fine.

I also asked about the new baby (as I am pregnant again) and what should we do about formula, should breastfeeding not work out (I am dairy free also) I don't want to go through the hell of missed diagnosis that I went through with James. She told me not to worry and that if breast feeding didn't work then to start normal formula and if any reactions are shown then to contact the doctor and get neocate prescribed and if he didn't prescribe it then to contact her immediately and she would phone the doctor herself to make sure he prescribed it and so the baby would not end up going through what James went through. This has made me a lot less anxious about the new baby and feeds and it feels like a weight has been lifted.

Good luck with the challenge.

It is good to hear that you have a plan in place for the new baby. I hope that he or she does not need Neocate and that you have a good time with the new baby.
