Just thought I'd share how happy I am as I've spoken to the lovely people at one of our local Indian restaurants :)
Basically some old work friends want to go out for an Indian in the next 2 weeks and as I haven't actually been out to an Indian since I went dairy free I was a little bit worried that I was going to end up having just chips or soup so I started contacting our local Indians. I had already spoken to 3 restaurants and they had all said they would speak to the chef and get back to me, none of them have...
Then I remembered that the family of one of my old school friends actually owns&runs one of the other local ones so I rang up and asked to have a chat with him and he went off and spoke to the chef straight away.
He came back and said, "Yes chef says that's not a problem as long as you book and we know you are coming we can arrange that for you and if you don't fancy a curry then he said he can easily make a naan pizza".
I have no idea what a naan pizza would be like but I will be intrested to see what delights he whips up for me!

I just thought I would say yay for old friends, amazing how exciting it is to be told someone will cater to your needs for you when you have been craving a good proper Indian meal and not the one I made at home, which was nice but not the same!

i have taken my girls out for indian and it has been very successful. for all their food problems they both love spicy food which is great. in our local restaurant they cook with vegetable oil not ghee (spelling?) so the girls have vegetable curry with lots of rice. they love it and have never had any symptoms from it. we have always enjoyed curry and i ate loads while pregnant both times. its all good. hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Indian cooking uses ghee (clarified butter).
This is however due to the process of making it is said to be lactose free.

Check out:
http://www.physicalnutrition.net/ghee-benefits.htm

60% of Indians are themselves lactose intoreant, so this is one of the reason they have come to use ghee and yogurt.

The yoghurt making process also processes the lactose in milk.
