Evening once again all!
Just sat down to enjoy some nice hot cross buns that I found in Tescos, the apple & cinnamon ones, after reading the packet about 20 times I decided they were fine and their was no dairy in them.Being me I thought I would have a quick look online and much to mu dismay (half way through eating my yummy bun) I was directed to a page that says that they do contain milk!
I'm now confused as to which bit to believe and dont want to eat whats left just in case the pack is mis labelled :(
Any ideas anybody as to if these are/are not dairy free?
Thanks!

I have been into the Tesco site and read the ingredients list there. I see that the apple flavoured pieces contain amongst other things milk sugar in other words lactose.
Is this not mentioned on the packet?
If it really is not on the packet you should send an email to Tesco complaining that the packet and the website give misleading information!
Oh how I hate Tesco but still have to shop there every week. Sainsburys here is even worse.
I hope that they really are dairy free and you don't feel ill later. In my experience of label reading in Tesco most things in the cake and bun section are full of dairy. I have not checked hot cross buns as I don't like them. I see they contain soya flour so they would make me ill anyway never mind the lactose.

Sorry for the delayed reply, no there was no mention of milk sugar on the packet which is why I was happy I could eat them.
I shall have to drop them an email a bit later complaining about this.
After posting the other night my stomach made some funny noises but that was the end of it so I'm assuming there was something in there that didn't agree with me but because I didn't eat enough it didn't make me ill thankfully!

Maybe there is milk sugar in them as the site says. It is a good job that you didn't eat the other half then.
You need to know which is correct, the label on the packet or the information on their site. You could point out that you were feeling ill after eating half a bun, you never know you might get a voucher to use in the store.
Let us know what they have to say about the ingredients.

I have emailed Tesco to complain, not heard anything back yet though!
I went to Tesco again today and actually found a soya based alternative to whipping cream which looks quite good so will have to give that a go! I have never seen that before and it was tucked in the foreign food section that our Tescos has, also found a dairy/gluten&wheat free tikka masala sauce to try!

I think I know which cream you bought. I tried them all before I became intolerant to soya :( It whips very well.
I have to stick to my oat cream which gets fairly thick if stored in the fridge for a few days.
