My local Sainsburys is now stocking products from OK Foods like the Apricot and Cinnamon and Wild Blueberry Bars

OK Foods (http://www.ok-foods.co.uk/index.htm)

Whilst looking on the Website I see that they also do a range of Biscuits, cakes and snack bars and these can be mail ordered

:D Hi everyone, I'm a slightly happier person today. Yesterday I popped into my local health shop 'Food for Living' in Dartford. It is full of dairy free things! They have different sorts of choc alternative including some little footballs! They also have a fridge with different sorts of 'cheese'. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to which one is edible!! They also stock all the Alpro range, including the custard. There is a branch in Dartford and one in Sidcup if anyone lives in this area. I also picked up a free mag 'The Health Store Magazine' and it's quite good. There is an ad. for Alpro milk and natural yogurt and a coupon to send for a recipe book. The shop has a website but I haven't looked yet www.foodforliving.co.uk, I think they may do some things mail order. Bye for now, Lin ;)

Hi Linny

I'm glad you've found a good shop, get friendly with the manager and you'll find that they are willing to order things in if you need them.

As for cheese, it isn't good news, none of them are really good. Personally, I only use Tofutti spread and slices (spread is nice on jacket potatoes and the slices melt if used on pizza, lasagne etc), Lan likes Cheezly but not many of us do.

Provamel/Alpro natural Yofu is good, it isn't as sour as cow's milk natural yoghurt so it is nice to eat with a really sweet dessert such as fruit crumble. It also makes good dips or indian mint sauce. I like to keep some in the fridge whenever I can buy it. The fruit ones are good too.

Hi all,

I've said it many times before but as Pam stated, I love Cheezley (hard cheese). I think the taste is great and it melts slightly, which is good for dairy free cheese.

For pasta dishes I use Parmazano which is widley available, and is a floury sprinkle cheese.

For soft cheese I'd recommend Sainsbury's Free From as I love it, I find that it is only lightly flavoured with herbs. If you prefer a stronger garlic and herb flavour then Toffutti soft cheese is the one for you.

Good luck,

Lan. :notworthy:

Hi, thanks for the help with your cheese favourites, I'm hoping to get some tomorrow.

On another subject re OK foods dairy free, I phoned Bird's Eye on their freephone no. 0800 332277 and they sent me a list of their dairy free foods from their regular range.

Bye for now Lin

I agree with Lan's comments on Sainsbury's fFree From Soft Cheese Spread - its very good. But, do you know that JS have now discontinued it ? :(

What shall I have on my toast & Marmite now ? Is there an alternative ?

Try Tofutti soft cheese (available from health food shops and comes in several flavours) or Swedish by Winner (makers of Swedish Glace ice cream). Swedish will be out of production for a few months but should be available again later in the year, someone posted about them moving their cheese production plant .
