well i've just stocked up our medicine cupboard, and picked up a box of Tesco Maximum Flu Strength caplets - ingredients..

Paracetamol 500mg, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 6mg and Caffeine 25mg. Also contains Povidone, Crospovidone, Magnesium Sterate, Talc, Stearic Acid, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Nipasept(contains E214, E216 and E218) Hydroxypropl Methlcellulose and Plyethylene Glycol.

o.O make of that what you will, but there is no mention of lactose ;)

Hi all,

I have given up on tablets altogether, due to most containing lactose. Instead I normally use Beechams all in one medicine, warm drinks, honey and paracetamol.

I too have a cold at the minute and am feeling awful with it. Hope you all feel better soon.

Sudafed tablets contain lactose - that is how I discovered that I was lacose intolerant :( It was a horrible experience and I have no wish to repeat it. I won't take any tablet without asking the doctor, dentist or pharamacist first.

Lactose is used to bind the ingredients into a tablet form - so I am told. Other things can be used instead, so maybe that is where the assorted starch ingredients come in.
