Easiyo do a low lactose starter for their yoghurt maker. It supposedly has less than 0.3% lactose. I was wondering if anyone with lactose intolerance has tried it? My little one doesn't like the soya yoghurts and the Lactofree one has bits in it, so I was hoping this may be an alternative. Any thoughts?

No I have not but I found this using Google

and this but you have to scroll down a bit to read about lactose intolerant reviewer

I would say it looks promising.

Thanks for that Copper. I've ordered one but it hasn't arrived yet. Of course after I ordered it I got an email from the manufacturer in response to my email saying they no longer make the low lactose version. I have found out how to make it without using their sachets (you use some of the yoghurt you have already made) so hopefully I'll be able to keep it going.

How annoying that they have stopped the low lactose version. Another grrrr
I hope it works out ok for you.

Just a follow up on my Easiyo trial. I never did manage to find the low lactose starter, but I have successfully made yoghurt using Lactofree UHT milk and a heaped tablespoon of plain yoghurt from the supermarket. My little one had some (not a lot though) and it doesn't seem to have affected him at all. Needs some adjusting though as he's not that keen on natural flavour.

Sounds good. You just need to experiment with flavouring now :)
