I am bringing dairy milk in tomorrow and am not looking forward to it. Last time I brought it in I wasn't too bad, and am hoping it remains that way.

I will be bringing dairy in from tomorrow, and will bring the following items in:

Skimmed Milk
Lactose
Ghee

And if all is alright with that:

Butter
Cheese
Yoghurt
Ice-Cream
Cream

I will be keeping an up-to-date diary of all events, and hope to receive any comments you have.

Kind Regards,

Lan.

Good luck Lan

It must be a bit scary knowing that you could well be ill after eating these foods, I hope you don't suffer too much, if at all. Let us know what happens. Do you gradually add these things or just go in all guns blazing? It could be quite a shock for your body.

After being on a low fat diet for a month I had fish and chips last week when we went to the coast and I was up all night feeling ill so you have my sympathy.

Pam (now back on trackwith the diet and 11 lbs lighter)

Hi Pam,

Thanks for the support. Have had a very dicky stomach today, so will be bringing in the milk next week. Would do it on the weekend but Steve and myself are celebrating 4 years together. Oh well.

Will definitely keep you informed of how it goes. Glad to hear your diet is going so well, I have lost 6lbs and put 2 back on. Will just have to keep trying, I guess.

Kind Regards,

Lan.

Hi Lan,

How's the milk introduction going? I hope you had good 4 year celebrations. It's my 15th wedding anniversary in August!!! (makes me feel so old)

Hi Pam,

The milk introduction was going good last night had a pint of dairy low fat milk, a packet of quavers and a low fat pizza. Was bad this morning but think that maybe more due to stress in work, than anything else.

Will be bringing it in again on Saturday if all is well until then, and will keep you all posted on how it goes.

The 4 year celebrations went very well, and if I forget to say it congratulations on your wedding aniversary.

Are you going to this allergy event up in London? Am tempted to go and am planning to meet up with other members if possible, if I go.

Take care.

I'd love to go to the allergy fair but it really is too far for us to go. We're not into city places either - far too busy and scary.

I went to a wholefood/health food trade fair a couple of years back and really enjoyed finding out what was available (and sampling it all). I've a feeling that the allergy thing will be a lot to do with clean air issues and less to do with food intolerances, probably lots of vacuum and air purifying system salesmen. After all, milk allergies come a long way behind asthma, hayfever, eczema, nut allergy, wheat allergies, even though it is something we all think it is very important on this site.

I'm glad your trial with milk didn't cause you too many problems, you certainly go for it in a big way when you do try it.

Hi Pam,

Sorry to hear you are not going to the Allergy Event. If I go I will keep everyone posted on what I can bring back from it. Nothing like experience though.

Have had my 2 days so am bringing milk in again tomorrow to check results. The results last time were promising, but don't think I will ever be totally cured. Actually feel quite guilty of everyone else who suffers.

I must say thought even if I can tolerate dairy I will probably eat dairy free foods as love my cheeses, and also love the milk more. I will however keep my website running whatever the results as after 8 years I know what it is like, and how hard facing the fact is. I will never give up the fight as I feel all allergy sufferers deserve respect and admiration.

Hope Rebecca and all in you family are well.

Take care,

Lan.

Hi Lan

I find it amazing that you appear to be able to tolerate dairy products again. I am really pleased for you.

I have had so many bad experiences that there is no hope for me. I was born with lactose intolerance but as that was in the dark ages it was not detected. I did get over that and then was a sickly child and then a few years later was very ill with stomach cramps and feeling sick. I was referred to London hospital and apart from checking that I was growing they could find nothing wrong with me. All of this illness set my growth back three years!!! The period of cramps etc was when I was given two bottles of milk a day at school - they thought that they were building me up as I was so small! For the last two years I have been ill again - feeling sick and have worked out what my maximum lactose intake should be. This is a very small amount of lactose reduced milk for my coffee.

My doctor has told me that lactose intolerance is a transient thing - hmmm. Next time I see him I will tell him about my childhood and he will be able to see the notes. It has only taken 48 years to work out why I was so ill for the first two months of my life.

My brother has the same problem but his didn't start until he was in his late teens. He still has the same problem and he is now 46. His symptoms are much worse than mine if he has too much lactose but he can tolerate much more lactose than I can.

Hi all,

Thanks for the messages and the support. This is my second day bringing in milk, and so far so good. I actually feel terrible for being able to tolerate it for so long. Amazed as well as haven't had it for 8 long years.

Oh well. Will keep you posted on the results. I must say though I feel I will always have to watch the levels I eat, but I guess it's better then befire.

Take care and keep in touch.

result. congrats. here's hoping it lasts. it'll be loads better even if you have to limit the amount you eat. atleast if you go out for a meal you'll be able to just order and not worry. hell i'm envious.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your support. So far I have had 2 pints of low fat milk, 1 low fat dairy pizza and a milkshake later today. May also have a cheese omelette. I will probably suffer for this later on in the week, but hell, i'm enjoying it now.

I feel that most of my problems are now due to stress and when I am stressed, I feel the allergies/intolerances seem to become a problem,

Oh well enough of the analysing.

Take care and will keep you posted.

Lan.

Sounds great Lan, I hope you don't suffer too much this week. Things will be so much easier if you don't need to totally avoid milk. You can generally be careful but have the odd lapse here and there without suffering too much.

Hi all,

Thanks again for all your support as it is really appreciated.

This is my 3rd day on milk products and have had a packet of cheese and onion crisps and will be having a cheese omelette. No side effects yet and am quite enjoying myself, but not looking forward to the symptoms. I also had a cadburys fruit and nut yesterday but after 8 years, does not taste as nice as I remember.

Doing so many positive things these days I'm starting to feel confident.

Take care all.

Lan
