To avoid giving him soya on another allergy forum someone said that their dietician suggested adding a small amount of Nesquick powder which is milk free to the Neocate formula to see if it helps him drink it, it worked for them and over a week they reduced the amount until he drank it without it.

We added half a teaspoon to his 6oz neocate formula tonight and he drank the lot no problems, do you think it will be ok to keep this going and reduce it slowly?

I looked on the box and it just says 0.1g sodium per 15g powder made up with 200ml of milk so the sodium level is low isn't it? other than that there is no salt added.

Her son was 9 months old when their dietician suggested it, my son is just over 5 months.

i'm not an expert but i would have thought that the main danger is you'll not reduce the amount and then the child gets used to it. then over a long period of time the sugar would be a problem and maybe the salt. but over a week or so i would be very suprised to find out any risk, as you say it's only a tiny amount of salt.

just reduce it so that you only do it for a week or so.

We have been recomended Crusha the milkshake flavouring to add to the formula milk as it contains no salt. But hey your doing better than us my daughter is 11 months now and still wont take any formula, so maybe we should try the nesquick !!!!!!!

Robinsons do a new 'For Milk' juice to add to milk. I mix a little cocoa powder with hot water and then add milk - nothing extra added unless you put some sugar in.

Thanks all of you.

I am now only adding a tiny amount, a tiny sprinkle, in a couple of days think it will be ok to stop adding it, yey!

He is taking 4oz every 3-4 hours and happily eating his food. He is still very windy but it does say that Neocate can cause them to have bad wind until the milk takes affect.

Thanks

he's a boy what do you expect? we're very windy all our lives!! or so i was always told.

good to hear it's sorting out. you'll just have to use the nesquik for yourself now! that'll be a shame.
