Hi.
As you may have noticed, i have changed the website to a new forum system and a new domain name.
You will probably notice that some features that were present in the old site are currently missing from here. I will be working on the site over the next couple of days to get everything that is missing added on to the new site.
The first priority was to get the forums up and running. Now they are working, i will be adding the products section next.
If you have any problems loggin in, or you have find any problems with the site, then please e-mail me at admin@dairyfreeuk.com
I will post announcements about the site updates in this thread. Please feel free to add any comments or questions about the site changes you have as well.
Steve
I'm now called a 'senior member' :lol2:
Does this relate to my age or my number of postings?, both seem to be higher than everybody elses.

It does actually relate to post counts. I'm not goin to make any comments about age here :D
Maybe I should be a bit embarrassed now then. Nobody comes anywhere near me in the postings scores - or maybe I've been around a bit longer than most and just can't keep my nose out. I want some more senior members to keep me company so Matt and Copper, you need to get posting, you're the only ones coming anywhere near, you need to be senior instead of just members.
Just updated my profile - what are referrals?
Oh well, there's another one on my total, sorry

I need to change these a litte anyway.
At the moment you get these title for these posts.
Junior Member - 0 to 29 posts
Member - 30 - 99 posts
Senior Member - 100+ Posts
I need to change these post counts as very few members here have > 100 posts. I'll probably add a few more ranks and change them to be a little more interesting as well.
Anyone have any suggestions for these?

Also, if anyone is interested then you can see the top posters by clicking here (http://www.dairyfreeuk.com/forum/memberlist.php?&order=DESC&sort=posts&pp=30<r=):
me senior, they way i act? i'm lucky to be allowed out on my own. but i'll do my best to join the exclusive club. why not guru member instead of senior! or something else as suitable.
interesting new site, haven't got time to fully browse today but will do over the next few days. i'm going to have to get used to a new site.

Ooo Pam we all look up to you :) I will try and post more messages soon. Matt is coming up on the outside track. I have managed to find my way round the site - quite amazing as it is way past my bedtime.
Very nice site Steve, you have worked hard. One question do we not have a spell checker to find the typos?

No spell checker for the moment. I still have a few more things to do on the site yet and adding the spell checker is one of them. I'll probably get some more work done on the weekend on this.
The next thing that i'm going to do is re-add the articles system. If anyone is feeling creative and would like to add something to it, then they are welcome to do so :D

I've now re-added the articles system, which can be accessed from the menu on the front page or the nav bar above.
I have also enabled the reputation system to see if anyone likes it or not. You can see this as the green boxes in the information above the posts. If someone gives you some helpful information, you can click on the scales icon just above the post and award them some reputation points.
Steve, I just added to your reputation because I wanted to see how it worked, and you're a pretty helpful type of person anyway so you deserve a good reputation, but where does it tell you what your reputation is? I can't see anything on the thread or in your profile. Am I missing something?
Also what's the little green square that says I am on a distinguished road? What is that all about?
So many new things to learn about.
Whilst I'm asking questions, what does quick reply do that is different to a normal reply?

I am so glad Pam asked these questions. I was struggling to understand the same things but decided it was too hot this afternoon for my brain to cope with this new "stuff" :) I have sent this via the quick reply. I think it means short reply?
Off to Monkey World tomorrow.

Oh dear I have been experimenting with the calendar. I thought I would put in the date I go back to work - it worked! Sadly I am not allowed to edit or delete so it is there for ever :) So be warned!!!!

Hi Pam & Copper,
The quick reply is simply so you can reply to a message without having to load up another page before replying to a post. It's very useful if you want to post a quick answer to a question. It just lacks a lot of the features of the editor you normally get when you do a reply.
A users reputation is not shown other than the green squares. The more green squares you have the better your reputation. If you want to see what your reputation is you can just click on the scales icon on your own post.
The distinquished road thing is just the current level your reputaion is on at the moment. The rating are:
User is infamous around these parts -9999
User can only hope to improve -50
User has a little shameless behaviour in the past -10
User is an unknown quantity at this point 0
User is on a distinguished road 10
User will become famous soon enough 50
User has a spectacular aura about 150
User is a jewel in the rough 250
User is just really nice 350
User is a glorious beacon of light 450
User is a name known to all 550
User is a splendid one to behold 650
User has much to be proud of 1000
User has a brilliant future 1500
User has a reputation beyond repute 2000
Both of these are features that are built into the forum software and i've enabled them just to see what they are like and what everyone thinks of them. If they turn out to be unpopular then i can always disable them.

That's no problem :)
I'll take a look at the settings on the calander. I should be able to set it so you can edit your own entries. I've not realy looked at this much yet.
this reputation thing is going to be fun. loads of back slapping and so on. but what to try and get...a really good reputation or be notorious! a buddha or a baddie?

I've got a list of member ranks, what do you think of this:
New to Dairyfree
Occasionally Popping In
Back Again
A Regular Member
Can't Stay Sway
Home Away From Home
Insane Poster
Dairyfree Guru
You can also set your own text in your UserCP if you want to.
I've also added a few more smilies to the site. Some of them are:
:crying::yucky::hysterica:taz::drunk::starwars:
And one for Pam as she asked for it, Blushing
good ideas. i'm trying my best to match certain others but i've a long way to go! probably count as insane poster not due to the number i post though!

Hi! Are the recipes coming back or have I just not found them yet?
Steve
06-08-2004, 01:00 PM
Hi ellsie,
The recipies will be back soon, it's one of the things i have to add back.
Was there something you were looking for in particular?
ellsie

No but I have a couple I would like to add when it returns. Cool.
You can also set your own text in your UserCP if you want to.
How do I do this Steve? I've been playing around and set my time to "automatically adjust to DSH" but I can't work out how to change my 'Senior membership'
Steve

I didn't set that option up correctly, should be fixed now. Just go back into your UserCP and it's in the Edit Profile Section.
It worked :D Took a few attempts to realise that I didn't want to 'reset'. Let me know if it offends and I'll change it again. I don't feel so old now.
Copper

I have played with my CP now too :)
i can see i'm going to have fun with that option! never let someone with such a short attention span have the ability to play. idle hands and devils work etc.
part of the furniture? that's as bad as being a fixture and fitting! and i'm sure none of us consider you like that. i'm going to have to think, it'll be a laugh to suggest for each other then put it to the vote, we then have to have what the vote decides.
who's up for that?:bleh:

That's the icon for AIM messenger service. The 4 icons in a row there are all for contacting me via different instant messenger services.

Sorry but I can't find it!
I you want to add an instant messenger you first need to download one and create an account for it. The main four are:
AIM (http://www.aim.com/)
ICQ (http://www.icq.com/)
MSN Messenger (http://messenger.msn.com/)
Yahoo (http://messenger.yahoo.com/)
Once you have an account on one of these services, then you can go into your control panel and enter the account details into the boxes shown below
http://www.dairyfreeuk.com/images/upload/messopts.gif
Once you have entered your account details you can use the icons to contact someone using the messenger service :)

Hi Elsie
To change your profile you need to log in, look at the top tool bar and click on user cp. This gives you a new page with a list of options down the left side you need to click on Edit Profile. You then need to scroll down and on the bottom right are the boxes for you to add ICQ etc.
I hope that this is what you were asking about. This modern technology is a bit much for me at times. I don't have ICQ etc whatever they are :) I don't want to be available 24/7. I can't even text on a mobile!!

I have now added the spelling checker to the site as well.
Edit: I've had to remove this for the moment. I found some problems with it. I'll add it back again as soon as i can fix them.
