WARNING !!!!! not all Jam Tarts are the same (or are they?)

Yeah I know, I should have checked but I've been buying Mr. Kiplin or Co-op Jam Tarts for ages and they have always been milk and egg free.

Last week I bought Iceland Jam Tarts (which look identical).

After feeding my sons I noticed that the ingrediants list contains egg (clearly labeled so it was my fault for not checking).

Thinking the worse I prepared myself for a reaction from my son (he always reacts quite seriously). Epi-Pen at the ready with Piriton.

Nothing happerned.

Waiting for 4 hours monitoring him constantly (nothing). Stayed awake all night worrying it'll kick in when I'm sleep. Nothing.

Either these Jam Tarts do not contain Egg (is it possible they are the same as Mr. Kiplin but packaged differently, eg seconds) or my son is no longer allergic to egg (not a chance in the world) or that my son is allergic to egg but not to dried powdered egg.

I'm a bit worried now that if the ingredient list of the box aren't accurate then what's the point with an ingredients list (and it's obviously very important to me).

Another example of ingredient contradiction is that Mr. Kiplin apple cakes contains egg but Mr. Kiplin apple and blackcurrent cakes do not (HOW CAN THIS BE??)

what's the point of a ingredients list? to cover their arses when things go wrong. not to help us in any way.

only you can figure out if the version of egg in the jam tart is not one that your son is allergic to. rather you than me. and only mr kiplin can answer why one pie has it and the other doesn't. email them they may just let you know. could be a simple as they are made on different production lines and it's just there is a chance of contamination not that it's used as an ingredient. who knows?

like i said they are the only ones who'll be able to answer.
