according to the magazine waitrose now do a plain choc bar made by kinnerton which is dairy wheat nut free guarenteed.

aparently kinnerton have just finished a major refit in their factory to make a free from area and can now say that the bar is definately free from all those ingredients.
so that's good news for all of you who can eat it. i just need them to do a caffiene free version as you wouldn't like to see me after eating caffeine!

Where've you been Matt? The Kinnerton bar (marketed under the name The Careful Chocolate Company) has been out for about a year now. It used to be sold in Sainsburys but I haven't seen it for a while. They sent me some free samples when I was running the business (and very nice they were too) but it is still dark chocolate even though the cocoa is reduced to make it less bitter.

If you can't get hold of this chocolate locally it is available via the Kinnerton web site but costs nearly £30 for a full box.

I was going to suggest the Just So carob bars for you Matt, but they have wheat flour in - I don't know if all carob does, not that it is any substitute for chocolate.

So what does caffein do to you? Make you ill or send you hyper? Your diet is severely restricted isn't it - no dairy, wheat or caffein?

Hi Matt,

I thought I was the only caffeine free person on this website. What symptoms do you have?

When I was diagnosed I was told to drink as much coffee as possible, something which beforehand I had drunk very little of. The symptoms scared me so much I phoned the local Hospital. I was literally bouncing off the walls and all I can remember is sitting on a chair and feeling like I was going to fall off and then picking my mother up after work and remembering I shouldn't be driving as my legs were like jelly. I would never do that again.

Also have an allergy to citrus and wondered if anyone else had the same.

Kind Regards,

Lan.

one point at a time!

i wasn't sure if everyone knew about the kinnerton bars so when i read that they were in waitrose thought i'd let everyone know.

caffeine-i love the stuff used to work nights all the time so would ingest as much as i could.
the problem now is two fold. it's often accused of being a migraine starter so i have to avoid it for that but the main one is my panic attacks.
i occasionally let myself have a cup of tea when out but never anything stronger. if i have any significant caffeine then i suffer more and more severe panic attacks. simple as that really.
i also don't eat much if any citrus again for the migraine.
so i do have one hell of a restrictive diet. this fact is even worse when if the doctor's correct there's not much wrong with me as i'm just nuts and bringing on the reactions via psychosomatic means.
so, here i am 6'7" tall and weighing 9'7" slightly underweight! and there's nothing wrong with me that a lobotomy wouldn't cure!

when the nights close in and it gets too cold to go out much i'll tell you my sorry tale about how i came to be this bad! until then i'm sure you've all something better to do!
:stupid:

Sorry Matt, I didn't mean to put you down, it's good when someone lets us know about new products or where they have recently been introduced to a new outlet.

I'm a Green & Blacks fan myself, particularly Maya Gold and would love to try the cherry one, but it is really expensive for some reason, but I suppose it is off limits for you due to the caffein. Can you eat the Tesco or Sainsbury's free from milk chocolate? Or is the lesser amount of caffein still too much?

If the doctors are so convinced that your problems are psychological why don't they refer you for hypnosis sessions (we had a doctor in our practice who was a qualified hypnotherapist), you might also find that this helps your sleep problems. I went on a self hypnosis taster course a few years ago and was amazed at that power that it has, but you need to keep practicing to focus your mind for good results.

PS. Glad to see you made it to Senior Member, but I think you should have left the title there a bit longer for all to see.
