View Full Version : Biddy Merkins Vegerella
Has anyone tried this non dairy cheese? If so is it any good and how does it compare with other varieties?
I am able to order some Cheddar style vegerella but have to buy in bulk so I don't want to waste my money. I normally use Tofutti slices for cheese topped pizzas and lasagne but have used veggie kaas. I don't like scheese or cheezly so wouldn't want to order anything that was too much like those two.
Hi Pam,
Can honestly say I have not tried this one. The cheeses I enjoy are cheesley (hard cheese) and Parmesano (Powdered cheese). If you do get this cheese in, please let me know your views.
Also what is Veggie Kaas and scheeze? Have never heard of these.
Kind Regards,
Lan
Scheese is very much like cheezly and Veggie Kaas is like a block version of Tofutti slices, quite greasy but it is supposed to melt when cooked. Both are vegan/dairy free alternatives to cheese
I've finally tried Biddy Merkins Vegerella and I'm not keen. It isn't like any of the other cheese alternatives that I've tried. It is very wet and more like a processed austrian cheese (the type that come in sausages) then a real cheese. It didn't have a particularly cheesey taste and the texture was to cheese what hot dog sausages are to real sausages - if you get my drift. The packaging says it can be grated so I might have a go at cooking with it to try the melt test.
Will I ever find a cheese substitute that I find acceptable?
