 Hi to everyone. We are new to dairy free, so a little unsure of things at the moment. Samuel ( my 5 year old son ) had a constant runny nose, so i took him to be allergy tested. The allergy test results came back that he was no longer allowed cow's milk, sheeps milk, goats milk, lactose, whey, butter, etc, etc, etc. i would be grateful from any advice from anyone out there !!!!!!!

Best Regards

Steve

Hi Teresa, welcome to the site.

You can check out the Articles (http://www.dairyfreeuk.com/forum/article.php?c=2) Section of the site which will give you some basic information about what ingredients and foods that you need to watch out for. Milk products can be found in many foods, many of which you wouln't expect to have milk products in them. You need to check the ingredients lists on all foods that you feed Samuel.

Have you seen a dietician? If not that would be a good step to take.

Is this his only symptom? It may be possible to control that one syptom rather than take him off dairy completely. My experience of coming off for 6 months and then trying again with dairy was that my body totally rejected any dairy and started going in to anaphalactic shock so please be careful and take it slowly. I now have a life threatening condition instead of the symptoms I had before. Take it slowly as you may find one or two items worse than others. My tests also said I was allergic to egg but I have not had any probs with them.

Hi. I'm new to the forum too. I've been off dairy for about 8 months. I have a Vegatest from a Naturopath that showed cows milk and lactose sensitivities. I was getting a lot of problems with irritable bowels and stress with mood/energy swings.

I was (and remain) a bit skeptical about the Vegatest (although a recent one by someone else came up with the same findings). I have however seen an improvement in my symptoms and interestingly a disappearance of mild ashma I've had since a child.

Anyone have similar experiences?

i am also very dubious about vega testing. they all seem to come up with wheat and dairy. lots of irritable bowel can be caused by stress and lots of symptoms can be induced by your mind hence being told your problem is wheat/dairy and then cutting them out can fool you into getting better. fine if that is the reason.

however, it's always better to get a docotr/dietician involved if you think you've got a serious problem. if not then you will benefit from the removal of dairy we were never meant to drink cows milk afterall.

you'll get most of the info you need from this site and can ask any other questions. i'm sure someone will have an answer or atleast a suggestion of where to look.

I have been allergic to dairy for 3 months now! I was ill for a few weeks constantly feeling sick, diahorea, tiredness and lack of general energy, and because i worked in a kitchen with two very extremly qaulified chefs they told me to cut out certain foods from diet and we started with dairy.

After a week of no dairy i was a different person i had all my energy back and just felt great.

Because of working away from home i only went to see my doctor a week ago and he said thay i'd been told to do the best thing possible and he has told me to stay away from dairy for another 3 months and if i'm still feeling fine then problem solved. he offered for me to go and see a gsastro something but he said it wasn't needed so i didn't bother. he never offered for me to see a dietician though. but i think i'm coping ok it just takes a lot of getting used too
