View Full Version : Members' Reputation
Well, I've been going round adding to the reputations of everyone I can find and now it won't let me add to anyone else until I have spread some reputation around others first. How far do I have to spread it before I can go back to the regulars? And how do we know how much reputation individuals have got until they reach a landmark score?
Can you tell it is a rainy saturday afternoon and I've got nothing better to do?
you must have been bored! couldn't think of anything more interesting to do, not even window shopping?
what will you end up doing when the weather closes in for the winter and it's dark at 4pm? i think we need to find you a hobby to save you from yourself! what do you like to do?
i'm going to start an open university degree, it'll take six years but it'll give me something to do and keep me off the streets! stop me scaring little children and animals.
:lol2:

I'm not sure what the limitiations are on the rep system at the moment. I'll take a look into it and post the information here for you.
the first course is either a general science or general humanities course. i'm going to go for the science. i think it's mainly designed to ease you back into education and teach how to write essays etc. i'm really quite nervous but i need to do something with my time. my brain is slowly dribbling out of my ears! it's a risk, i may fail but meanwhile it gives me something contructive to do and even if i don't get a great result it will give me help thinking and communicating again. hopefully will go well and turn into a worthwhile time filler.
What about doing a course on nutrition Matt? You could qualify to be a private nutritionist and earn loads of money by advising people what not to eat.
good idea but i'd need a distance learning course. can't attend college to learn due to problems....do you know of any such courses? then you have to find out if the course provider is reputable. too easy for these so called colleges to just take your money then give you useless qualification.
i'll definetly start with the ou course as it'll ease me back into education. not had to do that sort of thing for 15 years or so! and what with the problems over the last couple of years.
maybe i can just give advise for small fee with the knowledge i already have? set myself up as nutricianal guru on this site. how about it lan? a sort of agony uncle section, tell me your problems or dietary questions. either as part of the forums or with my own link in the header section?:lol2:
Hi Matt,
Why not? An agony uncle would be great. Good luck with the college course. I was thinking of doing a nutritional course that I saw at the Allergy Show, but it was so expensive. Keep us update on how it's going.
Am starting my new job next Monday and looking forward to it. Will keep you updated on how it goes.
Kind Regards,
Lan. :D
oops should have read this before posting to where is everyone asking for a reply to agony uncle!
so, you'll be hard at work this week then lan? i mean you wouldn't slack in the last week would you? what is it your doing again? i can remember it sounded very official.
good luck and have a good leaving party.
i'll let others decide whether to let me loose as an agony uncle and then leave it for steve to put it place if the consensus is to have one!!! so everyone what do you want? don't blame me if you don't express an opinion.:bleh:

Ok Matt here goes
Dear Matt , I went to the dentist yesterday and although he changed from latex to plastic gloves my skin still became itchy and I had lumps -hives - coming up on my mouth ! what do I do now. I hardly eat sweets or chocolate any more because all my favourites are off the menu, so perhaps I should just wait for a couple of years to go back. Ah well at least I can still numb the pain- pass the brandy!:wine:

This could be my reputation --in tatters again-- a lush --too  fond of:cheers: these little icons:wine: and sad because of all my allergies:drunk:. Such is life:cry: . :D
snap i went to the dentist yesterday although absolutely terrified due to phobia on choking and so on. my only point would be to say which do you prefer short term discomfort or potentially an abscess? that's what gets me through the door just.
why stop the sweets and choc? just clean your teeth after, our lifes are too dominated by our problems as it is without us restricting the things we like because of the potential downsides. you might, heaven forbid, get hit by a bus tommorrow thus making avoiding sweets a bit pointless. as regards being a lush who likes the icons too much welcome to the club. whatever floats your boat!:bleh:
re the dentist, i've got to have two molars and a wisdom tooth out at some point soon. pass the vodka

I do eat some choc and after 8 but I don't love them as much as a galaxy or a twix or afruit and nut etc. It's not the same.
What floats my boat would be a sea of red wine!!!:lol2:
well that's ok. the doctors say that red wine is good for you. therefore lots of red wine even better for you. that logic works doesn't it?
know what you mean about the choc, you can't take an after 8 apart with any real satisfaction.(see earlier thread re dismembering choc bars to really enjoy them).
so have we any reply re how to do the members reputation? why not just show an arrow next to the name. points up when people are saying positive then down when not? you can tell this is from someone who doesn't know a thing about computers as it's probably nearly impossible to do. you'd get an instant idea of what others thought of you without having to get through certain levels to have an impact.
does this make sense?
You add to someone's reputation by clicking on the picture of the scales (top right corner of message), then it asks you if you liked the message or not. The little green squares under your number of posts indicate your level of reputation. Matt, you are "on a distinguished road" as most of us are. Lan has two green squares and hers says something different when you hover your mouse over the squares. I haven't found anywhere that gives actual scores though other than when you click on your own scales.

I had a cunning plan to add to the regulars reputation :) I gave Zoefruitcake some points then tried to add to Linny's, it wouldn't allow me to :( I am not allowed to add to any of the regulars until I have spread them around - duh how is that going to happen?
Guess we need more regulars.
