I am bemused as I have been coming out in hives all day long. Oh do they itch
:( I guess I may not find out why I have them but it is obviously an allergy to something. I also have sensitive skin so who knows!

I did eat some chicken paste on my roll Tuesday but I can't believe that could be the cause. I won't be eating it again as it tasted yuk and repeated on me.

I have not changed anything else in my diet or my washing powder before you ask :)

I'm sure you checked the ingredients, but the other week I looked on a packet of Walls sausages and for the first time I actually saw them list the ingredients which are under 1% and lo and behold there was milk (or maybe soya in them). As my 4 yr old loves her sausages I suddenly realised why she was still getting tummy ache. I believe there is a law going thru' European courts at the mo which will legislate that sometime in the future all manufacturers will have to list all ingredients in their food, not just the ones that are more than 1% of the overall product. I hope so because my daughter still suffers from time to time and its almost imposssible to know why.

Do you think this might be the case with the chicken pastehttp://www.dairyfreeuk.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif

it might be something else but i would think the chicken has to be the main suspect. adding milk to chicken is a regular thing. what were you thinking?

i've got into anchovy spread by i think princes. bit strong flavour but i like that sort of thing. def no wheat or milk.

hope the hives go down. i get ecxma or something at the back of my head when i eat something dodgy. and it's bloody irritating.

I don't think I get hives but I suffer with psoriasis (mainly on my scalp elbows and knees) and that flares up when I eat anything dodgy. As you know I also get psoriatic arthritis and this gets worse if I've eaten anything with dairy. Linny

Hmm things are improving as I only have one new hive today. The rest are still there and only itch if I get hot.

It must be something in the chicken paste I guess. It will be interesting to see if they come up again, as this will prove it is not the chicken paste. (I have no intention of eating that again as it was yuk anyway.) In which case I will have a bigger problem - trying to find out what caused it.

Bet, I've just checked my Walls sausages they are ok. I get a bag of frozen thick pork sausages and they don't seem to have milk in.

i know they're cheap but if you can do yourself afavour and ditch the walls sausages. go to your local butcher and get some. he'll know exactly what's in them and they'll taste completely different. i can't eat sausages due to the rusks but i stopped eating the likes of walls a long time ago. from the butchers the sausages have actual meat in them and are just completely different from the mass produced junk that you can get. sorry bit of a hobby horse for me.

Thanks for your feedback Linny and Matt.

You're right Matt - fresh sausages would probably be the answer - just need to find a butcher I can trust. My friend who has 2 autistic children thought she was buying milk / gluten free sausages from her local butcher for 6 months, only to find out later they wern't gluten free at all.

By the way matt, have you spotted the milk/gluten/wheat free mince pies in Tescos yet? They're no good for my daughter because they contain soya but their 'normal' range dont so shes enjoying them at the moment. No doubt she'll be sick of them by Xmas!!

mince pies out aswell now! i may just have to stop eating proper food and just stick with the jam tarts, mince pies, cherry bakewells.........

if a little of what you fancy does you good then lots must be really good for you. mince pies have fruit in so that's one of the portions a day, then cherry bakewell and fruit cake for another meal. jam tarts are fruit jam....my god i think i have the solution here!

if anyone spots a flaw in my logic keep it to themselves, i live in my world you live in yours. mines looking really nice at the moment!! everyones welcome as long as they wipe their feet on the way in.:D

on the theme of sausages any of these nearby?

www.welcomefarmer.co.uk/Reigon... (http://www.welcomefarmer.co.uk/Reigon...)

list of farm shops. if not then try a search on google or somewhere for award winning sausages etc. some of the best sausages i ever had were from a farm shop outside high wycombe. worth the effort to find. farmers markets. old style butchers not one of a chain. go in and explain the situation, if they don't seem eager to help walk away.

Matt

Thanks for the info

The cherry bakewells from Tescos my 4 year old loves - she has been eating them for over a year now and never tires of them altho' other fads come and go, so if you're a big kid at heart these should be right up your street!

Incidentially, I went to a large branch of Sainsburys the other day which is about 20 mins away from me, eagerly rushing to the Freefrom section only to find it was at least half empty - what is going on with them? No wonder they are having financial difficulties at the mo.

yeah, know what you mean about sainsbury's. i've had a moan at the head office customer services dept without much response. tried to get them to realise how poor the marketing and distribution of the free from range is. did you tell them when you were there? if we don't complain they just say that no one has complained and therefore no one cares. they've used that as the excuse for getting rid of the free from soft cheese. saying that if enough people ask for ti they might get it back. not likely but worth a try.

will have to get the cherry bakewells. i tend not to have too many things like that as i eat healthily and my appetite is not very big hence being very underweight. so if i eat a bakewell i won't eat a proper meal. mind you can't do much more harm. so what the heck.
