I am not going near ap eanut in case, but does this go for all nuts? I am partial to a pistachio!!

Hi Lucy
I don't know what has happened to the other site, I haven't been there for ages but I now get a "page cannot be displayed" message when I try.
The advice for pregnant ladies who have a lot of allergies, eczema, asthma etc in the family used to be to avoid nuts during pregnancy so as not to provoke an allergy in the baby. Maybe you should also avoid dairy and egg yourself? I don't know how much the mother's diet can affect the baby in terms of allergy, do you see a dietician with your daughter? They might be able to advise you.
Anyway, congratulations on the pregnancy, at 14 weeks you should be starting to bloom now, you lucky thing! (As much as I would love to have another baby I don't think my sanity could take a fourth child). Good luck with the next 26.

Thanks Pam.
I am starting to bulge! (not sure about bloom) I am eating eggs and milk, but in moderation (real moderation) as I can't have egss or milk around my daughter anyway because if a drop touches her skin she reacts..so a glass of milk if I remember at night time!! but I am concerned about my calcium levels as my teeth have gone blotchy.
As for a dietician, HA! I have been pushing for a dietician for the whole 2 yrs of her life, no one seems interested! but I'm hoping to find out what I need to on the intanet, I have so far!!
Anyway, thanks for your support I really apreciate it!

TRY GETTING AN APPOINTMENT FOR YOURSELF AT THE DIETICIAN AND ALSO TO SEE AN allergy consultant. Sometimes things happen faster for you when you are pregnant as there is an obvious time limit to consider, Perhaps your GP could write to the docs with your specific questions if there is a long waiting time and at least it would be of some help. I think if you are concerned about calcium take a supplement as your baby will take what it needs regardless of your needs and you need to up calcium anyway at this time. I saw dieticians during all 3 of my pregnancies as I need calcium supplements and I had little problem getting seen. Try speaking to tour midwife as that may be the way to open the door to the dietician.
I agree Pam I am having no more lovely kids. I couldn' t stay sane for long with another patter of tiny feet. :starwars: This is my house at half term as it is.
shouldn't that be two darth vaders fighting? or are you suggesting that one of your little angels is innocent of starting any of the arguments? i've only the one daughter but i know she'd be the darth vader. love her to bits but kids are kids!
I got home from work last night to find that my husband had just about had enough of the kids fighting and misbehaving so he went off to hide whilst I was trying to make some tea. I then had 30 minutes of "da-na da-na da-na batman!" at the top of their voices, the kitchen door being opened and slammed at a rate of once every 10 seconds as they were coming and going and the usual "mum he's done ........", "mum tell her not to ......" . You get the picture?
And today's my last day, then I've got 2 days and the weekend off! It must have been a moment of madness that made me book some time off during half term week.
ANYWAY, this thread was supposed to be about Lucy's concerns for her unborn baby. Maybe you (Lucy) could get in touch with Allergy UK and see what they suggest, they have advisors who might be able to help. Failing that, pester your midwife, GP, Consultant etc. As far as I know, the early days are the most important during pregnancy so if you do need to restrict your diet it should happen asap.

Thanks guys... I look forward to the chaos of having 2 kids!!! it sounds like fun!
I am seeing the midwife (first visit) on Friday, that is what I've found very frustrating, no one seems to want to help, me or my dd (who has the allergy) But I am taking a calcium suppliment, but I take it one day and a multi vit the other day, because of the vitamin D which the body stores, and is in most calcium tablets (to help absorb it) but is also in my mulit vit 200% of RDA so I am wary of taking too much vit d!
ARRGGGHHH I will let you know how I get on, on Friday, I appreciate the help and speedy responses!!

Hi, you may be interested (but check if it's ok as you're expecting), when I saw a dietician they told me to take calcium citrate rather than calcium carbonate as it is more easily absorbed. I could only find the tablets in an independent health food shop I think they're made by Solray?? Good luck.

you can also get calcium prescribed, i do due to my restrictive diet and problems.
don't take no for an answer. get a ref to dietician or some other ref to help. don't go in all guns blazing but stick to your position and request forcibly all the help you need. then hassle them until they give it to you. it's like most things they have their budgets and so on but that isn't your problem it's theirs. you need the help go out there and get it.
hopefully this is all going to be unnecessary and they'll turn out ot be really helpfull on fri.
keep us informed.

Hi
I've been. Midwife didn't really know much about it (quel surprise!) But I will drop a note into GP for some calcuim and se from there!! I will steer claer of all nuts as we have said and watch this space....
I heard the heart beat and it was amazing! (and very relieving)
It won't be long before you'll be feeling the movements. I think it is such a magical thing, I really enjoyed being pregnant, despite all the problems I had with bleeding, low placenta etc. All my 3 were born early too so I never really got to the stage where I was fed up of being pregnant. Oh happy days!
