My dd has just has a birthday and I was experimenting with 'party' foods, have a WONDERFUL vegan choc cake recipe, will lsit it later when I find it.
BUTI have discovered if you make a basic shortcrust pastry mix, then once at breadcrumb stage add a generous teaspoon of marmite, and a teaspoon or dijon mustard and it is seriously yummy and most of my family asked if dd could have it!thinking it was really cheese! (as if I'd provide cheese straws really!! )

I really must try this recipe - (mental note to self: got to get some dijon when I go shopping next week).

I've done cheese straws with cheezly (it's about all it is good for) just by making pastry and folding in some grated cheezly, and folding, and folding, and folding...... They work ok, so now you know what to do with left over cheezly before it goes mouldy.

OMG! Thank you so much for telling us about this, I just made a batch and they are delicious!!! How long do they keep for if you put them in the fridge? And can you freeze and defrost/reheat them ? Then I can make a big batch and keep them because although eating the whole lot at once is very appealing I don't think it will help the waistline much!
Thanks
