I have just made some of the most delicious double chocolate chip cookies I have ever tasted and they were really easy to do.

4oz margarine (Pure spread works fine)
3oz soft light brown sugar
2tablespoons syrup
5oz sr flour
1oz cocoa
4oz chocolate chips (supercook plain choc ones are dairy free)
2tablespoons soya milk

Oven mark 4 180C 350F

beat margarine until soft, add sugar and mix together until light and fluffy
Stir in the syrup, flour, cocoa powder, chocolate chips and milk and mix well
Place spoonfuls of the mixture on the greased trays immediately and bake for 8-10 mins. Remove from tray immediately and let cool on a wire rack.

A heaped teaspoon sized dollop will make about 18 (ish) I used a tablespoon and got 11 huge (hand sized) cookies. Mine haven't cooled yet but we've already eaten two, I'm in heaven mmmmmmmmmmm............

(Thanks to Carmel on Hunnybeez for the recipe)

I made these this afternoon. I forgot to buy light brown sugar so used my soft dark brown sugar instead - they are very :bleh:

Thanks for the recipe Pam.

I'm going to make some more at the weekend, they were far too scrummy to last very long. How long will yours last? Do you have more willpower than me?

are you two trying to torture me?:lol2:

It was pure torture for me, being able to smell the chocolatey aroma drifting around the house and not eating every single one of them. I had to save the kids some for their lunch the following day but they smell was absolutely out of this world - like the piped chocolate muffin smell that they waft around supermarkets, or the aroma so often to be found in the air around fox's biscuits in Batley. Maybe I should work in a biscuit/chocolate factory, they say if you are stuck with it all day you soon go off the food - can't see it myself really but I'd be willing to give it a go!

Sorry Matt we don't do it on purpose. I estimate that my cookies will last at least a week. After spending so many years feeling ill I have great restraint and a small appetite.

A week!!!! I don't think mine lasted 24 hours, but we are a family of 5 with a very sweet tooth (tut tut). I'm ready for making some more tomorrow.

Thing is, I have to test things first, just to make sure they are safe for the kids!!

i can understand that. i mean you've got to have standards and it would n't be fair to give them a cookie that wasn't right. and just because the first one was ok it doesn't mean they all are. better safe than sorry.

home made ones too good for the kids anyway. they can make do with shop bought ones.....

Hurrah! Found it at last - had to do a search for cookies.
