View Full Version : What the heck is a Chufa?
Saw some dairy free milk in the local health food shop, forget what it was called now...... should have written it down! but most importantly it had a picture of a tiger on the front and it was made from Chufas??!?!?!? Anyone??????????? :lol2:
Tiger White!
Made in spain from chufas (aka tiger roots) which are the tubour of the sedge plant.
Any wiser? ..... No, I'm not either!
Here's an old press release about it http://www.tigerwhitedrinks.com/index.php?fuseaction=media.grow I think some Tesco stores were doing taster samples with it when it first came out last summer but I've never seen it for sale anywhere. If you do a search on here there are probably a few mentions of it but I don't know of anyone who uses it.
Thanks Pam, I might just buy some to try it to tell everyone I just drank some chufas!! ha!!

Tiger White sweetened is quite nice. I would buy it but I don't drink enough to buy such a large carton. I did try freezing it but when it thawed it separated and looked yuk. I did ask the Tiger White folk if they were planning smaller cartons and the answer was no. They suggested freezing so I told them I had tried that and was not happy with the thawed "milk". They tried freezing some and agrred with me that freezing was not good. :( If I have to give up the lactolite then Tiger White would be my first choice.
Tesco here (a superstore) do not sell all these Stamp chocolate bars etc mentioned on this forum but they do sell Tiger White.
