Hello,I'm new this site but have already found some useful information.
I have had no medical confirmation of my problems,so i'm not sure if I'm allergic to dairy or just lactose intolerant.I suffer from bloating and stomach cramps, but also from migraines and mood swings.
All I am sure of is I feel fitter and happier when on a dairy free diet.
I had eczema as a baby which was quite severe and mild eczema through my childhood. I also had underactive thyroid in my teens which was operated on when I was 16,and have been taking thyroxine ever since. I'm now 50 and have been dairy free since Xmas and I feel better now than I have ever been.
I would interested in anything to do with dairyfree living.
I have found Sainsbury's to have the best selection of dairyfree products but I'm stunned by the number of things that contain milk unnecessarily, such as flavoured crisps. I now read every label before buying.

Hi I am Lan (web owner),

I suffer from bloating, cramps and mood swings. The mood swings are normally before the diarohea. Please try and get the symptoms diagnosed by your GP. I know mine took 6 years though.

If however you are happy with a dairy free diet, please stick to it, with the relevant information regarding the viaimins and calcium you need to replace a dairy free diet.

Sainsburys ar great with their new dairy free range, but I have to agree with you, that milk is put in products unecessarily. They put it in cheap meats, crisps, curries etc.

But making your own food can be a good thing for you, no additives etc.

Kind Regards,

Lan

Hi I am new to this group too.

I have been lactose intolerant on and off since the day I was born. I am still struggling to find a nice alternative to cheese. I did find Tofutti creamy smooth in my local Sainsburys in Poole, Dorset and I really liked it. When I went back for more the shelves in the Free from section were very empty and have been for weeks. I have managed to get an answer from customer care after many phone calls and they are not stocking that product anymore. I really don't like the Sainsburys version a "spreading cheese".

I will be phoning Tofutti tomorrow.

Hi I live in Poole but there is a Jewish deli in Bournemouth. I think that I will have to phone them up too.

Since my last message I managed to get hold of a manager at my Sainsburys who has now found out that they will not be stocking rice slices anymore. He is going to try and find out if they will be stocking an alternative. I will keep you posted.

went to asda 2day & found few more variety things, made beef stew but bit tasteless as only found Vegetable stock and had 2 thicken it up. so son wasnt happy as he isnt dairy free, i liked it but could been better.

I have had yet another wasted day waiting for phone calls that have been promised but don't happen. Sainsburys have given me the round around for at least 3 weeks!!!! A looooong story.

I started early this morning with a phone call to a man at Tofutti. He seemed to have a problem with the fact that I lived in Dorset, so he gave me the phone number of a distributor (Goodness). I phoned this number and found that I had been given the number of the buyer! He tried to put me through to sales but they were all busy. He gave me the phone number for sales. I tried this number and the lady said that she would try and put me through to one of the sales assistants. Guess what, they were all busy so she took my name and number and said they would phone me. They didn't!!!

Late this afternoon Seamus, a manager at my local Sainsburys, did phone me as promised yesterday. He had been trying to find out from their buyers why they were not stocking the rice slices and were they planning to stock an alternative. The one buyer who would know this information has been out of the office all day but he should be in his office tomorrow. Seamus has promised to phone me tomorrow.

A new day so a more determined effort to get some answers.

Seamus has not phoned today but it doesn't really matter anymore. I phoned Goodness and as usual they were busy but promised to phone back. I told them that they said that the day before but this time they did phone back. Goodness don't supply south of Winchester - a good hours drive away for me. They suggested the Goodness Direct website but had to admit that they could deliver frozen items but not chilled!

I phoned the man at Toffuti again and told him my sad story, he said he would phone back. After half an hour I phoned as I had to go out and he had just about reveived the info. I was given another name and phone number - Queenswood Natural Foods. I phoned them and they supply Tofutti cheese to a health food shop in Poole :) I phoned the shop and yes they had a supply of Tofutti. I rushed out to Poole and I am so happy as I now have Tofutti creamy smooth both original and herbs and chives to try. I have even got rice slices and veggie slices. I can eat again :D

Hi Copper,

So glad to hear that you have been able to find stockists of dairy-produce. I must admit I am a Tofutti fan and enjoy all their dairy-free products.

Kind Regards,

Lan :D :D
