View Full Version : New product - Oat Cream
First Foods have introduced a pouring cream to their range. Made from oats it has the benefit of being soya free (I believe) as well as dairy free. I am told that although it won't whip into a solid cream it can be whipped to a thicker consistency. Currently for sale at £1.09 for 250ml in health food shops and will be coming to Tesco in the summer.

I haven't tried their tubs of ice cream but their magnum type ice cream lollies are very nice, though a little expensive at around £2.49 for 3.
I have to say that I prefer Oatly to their Oat Supreme oat milk though.

I got some samples from them (they were free) at christmas so Ben could have triffel and it made a very passable topping by adding a drop of vanilla and some sugar, its milk and soya free and can be whipped thicker or you can add a natural thickener. and can be used it loads currys, carbonara sauce the list goes on...
Had some of the ice cream from First Foods delivered with Bens Rice Dream (rice milk) order this week along with the chocolate covered lollys ( Ben is a very happy if somewhat chocolate covered boy) got it through Goodness Direct only cost an extra £3.00 to have the frozen stuff delivered in a foam container packed with dry ice and it was as hard as if it had just come out the freezer!!!
I keep threatening to order from Goodness. Did you get to keep the container and dry ice?
Did the oat cream whip up enough to be reasonably firm on top of the trifle or did you thicken it - if so, what with?
(Completely off topic but I once went to a party where someone put dry ice down the loo, everytime anyone relieved themself it made it smoke/steam(?) even more - it was a wonder it didn't crack the pot though!)
be worth the order just to play with the dry ice!!:lol2:
That's what I was thinking! :D
we shouldn't be allowed out on our own!!!:lol2:
