Didn't Lan go to the show last year?

I'd love to go but it is too far away for me.

Steve

Yep we both went last last year. I doubt that we'll go again this year though.

Pam

But was it worth going? Did you learn anything new or get any good freebies?

I forgot to mention as well, if you go to the website http://www.allergyshow.co.uk/ you can enter a free draw to win a ESSA Air Cleaner (http://www.essaeu.com/).

There's also a six minute video (http://www.allergyshow.co.uk/last_years_Show.htm) you can download of last years show.

you should contact them and try to get free tickets due to your position running the site. sorry no freebies this year didn't see any competitions to win any.

if you don't ask.......

I love this kind of thing! I really want to go, and i'll of finished uni by then so il probably be suitably bored, the only thing is how to get there!?!? I have a car but im guessing by train is the best but any advice would be good as im pretty useless with travelling!!

Thanks! :D

one day capital card prob easiest. gets you to london and unlimited tube and bus travel. pop into your local train station and ask they might suggest a better route. i'm not sure how close the coach station (victoria?) is to olympia.

Pam

Coach is usually cheaper but takes much longer. I'd love to go too Emi, but the distance (and the resultant cost) is prohibitive. You'll have to bring me back a goodie bag.

I could probably make the trip quite easily, so if I'm not too busy I might take a visit, could probably combine some time there with a nice trip to other parts of London, would have to be the 19th though, (May Ball on the 17th!!)
I won't know for a while if I can go but I'm only about an hour away on the train as I'm still at uni then, so Ill see what I can do.

Had a look on the national express site at coaches and blimey!! it takes 5 hours to get to London Victoria from Hudds, i mean im quite used to the long journeys as i got the coach to Bournemouth for the Christmas holidays (it took 8.5hrs!) but i hoped to have a bit more time at the show, so im going to look into getting the train, will pop into the station later this week.

Will definately grab you a goodie bag Pam! Thats if i work out how im going to get there without it costing me too much!! :D

Change of plan, am going to go home for the summer which means the train will be a lot cheaper and a much much quicker journey! But this probably means i can only go if i dont have to do any re-sits at uni!! fingers crossed! Am quite excited as my mum has just moved to Alderholt in Hampshire so it will be all new to me!

Claire the allergy show is in June so will not clash with your May Ball or the after effects :drunk:

cnc
20-04-2005, 02:42 PM
Oh probably should have explained my May Ball is the 17th of June- they used to be in May, but then exams moved so are after exams, May Week starts the 19th of June as well!!Its a bit weird! (can't drink too much, have got a rowing race on the morning after the ball)!!

matt
21-04-2005, 03:13 AM
it's not going to be easy from alderholt. i was in fordingbridge until last week and the ex and my daughter live in damerham. the nearest railway is totton/bournemouth. coach from ringwood.

may week in june! why not re name it? or would that be too confusing. too bad about the rowing the next morning. not really practical to have major hangover:lol2:

london would be fun as loads of geocaching to do up there but coach/train not going to happen. enclosed space and strangers.......kew i can do. i drive and it's very big! back there soon.....

so do i get the goody bag then emi? as you'll be nearer me and copper.

Tradition demands that it is called May Week, I don't know why it isn't changed, but June week doesn't quite sound right
I have to race the Wednesday, Thursday and then the Friday of the Ball, as well as racing the day after :(.
I might have an enquiry see if I can get some mates to come on a trip to London, via the show.

Pam

If I make it Pam, I'm sure I could get a goodie bag for you, I'm assuming your not that far from me really, would just have to wait until I return home (If the food is good enough, there might not be any of it left though!!)

Pam

Maybe we should get a minibus from Yorkshire to the allergy show.

I'm sure there was another thread about who was going to the Allergy SHow and who wasn't - was I dreaming it?
Anyaway, is anyone else going on Saturday 18th? I'm up in London as it is my favourite bands big gig of the year at Shepherd's Bush Empire (anyone fancy coming to that, it'll be a blast) so I'm combining it :)

Steve

Someone should take a camera and take a few pics while they are there.

Pam
09-06-2005, 04:51 PM
What's your favourite band Zoe?

zoefruitcake
09-06-2005, 07:34 PM
They are called Ezio (see www.ezio.co.uk) I have their logo on my smart car, tattooed on my back and I saw them 30 times last year :band:

Pam

I'm not much wiser really. I hope you have a great time.

Hi, I'm going Sunday, I can't go Saturday as I'm rowing in the afternoon, and Friday is out as it's my Ball.
Will take some pictures if I remember, I'll try to avoid being in them though!!

What type of music do Ezio play?- I know I could look it up myself but I'm too lazy!!

I'm going Sunday as well, as Saturday is the local carnival and I'm in it.

linny
10-06-2005, 12:02 PM
What are you doing in your Carnival? Hope you have a good day.

paranoidangel
10-06-2005, 05:32 PM
We're celebrating the 850th anniversary of the charter of the town this year, so that's the theme for carnival. So we're doing plague - so we have a cart and a bell and someone will be shouting 'bring out your dead'. I'm Death. Or will be when I get round to making my scythe.

Pam
10-06-2005, 06:48 PM
Come on PA, spill the beans. Are you the carnival queen?

Pam
10-06-2005, 06:49 PM
I didn't see that this thread went over the page so didn't see your reply, I couldn't have been further from the truth.:D

matt
11-06-2005, 03:32 AM
what a fun part!!! who choose it for you and why don't they like you. which town is it again?

strange, remembering when the town was almost wiped out by the black death!:lol2: wonder how many of the old gits will be sat there muttering that it would have been for the better if it had been....

paranoidangel
11-06-2005, 09:46 AM
The town is Wallingford. Apparently it was more important than London before most of the population was wiped out by the Black Death. And one of the mass graves is below what is now an Italian restaurant!

I'm Death because I have a friend with a black cloak that pretty much comes down to the floor on me. On anyone else it would be round their knees, which might look a bit silly.

matt
12-06-2005, 04:05 AM
drove past loads of times but never visited!!

so you're a short **** then? :lol2:

atleast no complicated lines to remember!

cnc
12-06-2005, 11:33 AM
PA are you going to wear the costume to the show?? Then at least I'd be able to identify you :D

Matt just because you're tall enough to be the BFG, don't be mean about other peoples height :P *although I normally do this myself!!*

Pam
12-06-2005, 12:12 PM
I'm quite short too at 5'4", trousers are usually too long and most people tower above me. Hubby is over 6' though so the kids will probably all grow to be taller than me.

paranoidangel
12-06-2005, 07:25 PM
5'4" isn't short! I'm 5'1". Trousers and shirt sleeves are always too long - I think if something doesn't come past the end of my fingers then it fits.

A cloak is too much of a pain to wear around much but if my home-made scythe survives Saturday (when I've made it) perhaps I'll walk around with that :)

cnc
12-06-2005, 11:24 PM
That would make you much easier to spot!!
I'm fairly identifiable in the fact that I'm about 5'11, so I have the opposite problem to you- lots of my clothes are too short me.
Does anyone have any idea how long I should be expecting to spend at the show? Judging on last years etc...

matt
13-06-2005, 03:58 AM
clothes that reach to your fingers??? you mean that the world isn't full of clothes that stop half way up your arms?? no wonder my hands are always so cold!

cnc
13-06-2005, 07:43 AM
Matt I know the feeling!! A lot of my friends are quite short and moan that all their trousers are too long for them, simple answer- cut the bottoms off them!! When they're too long then you can't exactly add bits. Specialist clothes shops are the answer!!

CNC,

hard to explain what the music is like, in Ireland they described it as acoustic rock, so I usually stick to that. Most people are hooked as soon as they see them and they appeal to all ages. In Germany, where they are far more popular all the fans are in their early 20s but here they tend to be older. My parents love them too, and they are coming along

cnc
13-06-2005, 08:36 AM
Have just got round to having a look on their website- I'd probably agree with acoustic rock, heard some of their stuff on their radio station.
