View Full Version : TGI Fridays
Whilst in London on Sunday, we went to TGI's for Lunch, the waiter was very good and when I asked what was dairy free he said he wasn't 100% sure, but would check every ingredient that was to go into my meal and let me know...
He kept his word- I'd ordered a burger and he came back to tell me that the bread had milk in. I ended up having just the meat and the chips, but I'd rather have that than be ill.
So was very impressed with the service, they actually seem to care about :)
Thats brilliant, its funny how some places care..... and others couldn't care less, I actually found the worst place to be Hostpital!! When my son was in over Christmas with gastric illness caused by dairy all they could offer him to eat dairy free was plain mashed potato!!!!!! so for the 4 days we were in we had to make all our own food for him and bring it in. I was outraged. I found our local shops brilliant with dairy free advice, the local chinese take away were excellent, they dont use any dairy at all, the local butcher makes gluten free sausage etc.

I wouldn't presume that all TGIs are like that - I used to work at one in my uni days and they wouldn't have been that good! In fact I've never been to eat at one since working there! (Think it was just a bad branch, I'm sure the rest are fine)
I don't know, I wouldn't eat in one after I heard about the state of the microwave in our local one. DH's friend was supposed to mend it but it was so caked up with food that it was a health hazard.

That sounds about right. It was more than just the microwave that was a health hazard at the one I worked at, and the food hygiene wasn't the only problem - even on really long shifts you weren't allowed a break unless you smoked, so I started! 4/5 years later I'm still trying to quit.....
Most establishments have dubious regimes, but that wasn't really the issue here, I just thought it was nice to praise someone who had actually made the effort to help. Probably should go on to their website and see if I can send a comment that way. It'll make a change from the two emails of complaint I've sent today/yesterday and the other one thats due to be sent later on today.
Hi all,
I normally try to eat at restaurants where you can see the staff cooking. Went to one place in London and the customer toilets were near the kitchen and the chef had no shoes on. Couldn't eat there again.
If a place looks grubby on the inside or out, or the staff look less than clean I wouldn't consider food there. Steve and me have been looking for a restaurant/pub to eat in and I have refused due to the outside being dirty. I love food, me.
Kind Regards,
Lan. :D
it's a good way of checking, if they can't keep the main area or outside clean then what hope the kitchens? and we're talking something that costs money and we do for special entertainment. i mean we can eat at home so don't have to go to the resturant. get moneys worth.

i judge everywhere by what the toilets are like!! Not just where I eat - pubs too!
The toilets were reasonable, the outside was also clean as was the inside where we were eating... Maybe I was lucky and found one that was half decent for once??

I have a friend who does the same. The Met Bar by Baker Street tube has toilets that are far nicer than the rest of the pub!

^_^ It drives my mates bad - we can be in the nicest pub in England but if the toilets are a state I insist on leaving! My mum always jokes about putting a loo in my bedroom as the only place I clean and tidy fanatically is the bathroom!!!
