:P Hi all
I rang tofutti direct last night left a message, they rang me back this morning and gave me 2 localish numbers of wholesalers. I rang one and they gave me localsih shops which sell their ice cream, cornettos and such.
The number for Tofutti direct is: 020 886 14443
The Bolton wholesalers is: 01204 574371 & they gave me 3 numbers:
Cottage Deli Manchester. 0161 776 6216 which address i found on net is park lane whitefield.
Myers Samers in Leeds
Salzman in manchester.
i went to google.co.uk and put in name of shop, the top one is a foreign shop so they may have other branded non dairy in too. I will be trying the 1st shop sometime this week & will let you know the outcome.
Other number to try is Yorkshire wholesalers on 0845 4582290 & they will tell you nearest outlets they deliver to near you if you ring them..
Bye for Now

Thanks for sharing that information.
If you look at the "Non dairy foods" section you'll find contact information for some companies.
If you come accross anything that we don't have listed, let us know and we will add it to the site.

It seems to me that a lot of the products available vary depending on where you are in the country. So far a lot of what we've put on the site is stuff that we have come accross ourselves.
Availability of these products is improving, especially now stores like Sainsburys are starting thier own range of dairy free foods.
What I have found is a lot of foods can quite easily be made yourself by simple substituting non dairy replacements in the ingredients. Some things such as cakes take a bit of trial and error before they work. Cooking without dairy has not been a big problem so far. If there's anything you need help with, just ask.

Thanx, i got a recipe book from provemel & i got a list of goodies they do from tofutti.
When i go out i love the "snacker bread" (like cracker bread) from asda, put cream cheese from tofutti on or lettuce n cucumber with bit ham or beef. yum yum.
but also tried chicken steaks n fish fingers from sainsburys, and canadian icecreeam from asda, thats dairy free £1-68 tub. in normal section.
Like you say its just substitue, thing is i am still bloating up and know when i am bad cos get wind again. (even though stickin to diet)
see surgeon tomoz (fri) and dietician soon, elimiate those hidden extras which i do to my best.
I made this 4 tea last night needed extra taste as i didnt have garlic to put in..
200ml soya dream, 200ml provamel chilled, mix together.
grease casserole dish, and layer at bottom with garlic cloves crushed?
layer with slices pototaoes, and salt, pepper to taste then pour on mix.. put nutmeg on cook in oven 180 for 45 mins or until soft .. i served with chops n peas.
makes enuff for 3 if eat little ..
is there anywhere i can put my reipes or scan them in??

Well I went to the shop in whitefield called "the cottage deli" and i was very impressed.
Its a jewish deli and they sold lots stuff you can't/won't get in big stores.
I got another tub tofutti ice cream, loaf bread (tastes same as normal bread & it's sliced) pies (steak n kidney & chicken & mushroom), mini cakes, biscuits, bagals, packet mixes, gravy, tomatoo & mushroom sauce, and tub thick cream.
ALL DAIRY FREE spent £18.
I will be making chicken supreme with mushroom sauce adding just own cooked chicken, peas, sweetcorn, mushrooms, then have it with rice..yum yum
made yorkshires last night, think 2much flour in them lol ..

I am getting desperate for some sort of cheese alternative here in Dorset. Sainsburys appear to be cutting right down on their dairy free items. Toffuti and rice slices are not going to be stocked anymore :(
I have trawled the web today and found this health food shop in Kent which sells mail order. I found Tofutti "cheese" and all sorts of other "cheese" that I didn't know about. I am sure that I will end up getting my supplies thorugh this shop by mail order.

Has anybody got any Tofutti "cheese" or similar that could tell me if the use by date is weeks or months in advance? If it keeps a while I could buy several in one go as the postage would be silly for just one or two tubs.

You can buy all sorts of Free form foods on the net ffom Goodness Direct
http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/
They even sell Tofutti desserts and ice lollies! They do not sell the Tofutti cheese though.
I have used this firm about a year ago and some of the dairy free things were just yuk!!!
Sainsburys sell a nice dairy free alternative to ice cream. It comes in two flavours - strawberry and toffee and walnut (iced dessert). I hope that they are not going to cut these lines too!

Thanks for the info about the use by date. Also thanks for the offer to get some "cheese" for me. I will see if I can get an answer from the distributor tomorrow.
I think that I will try the Kent shop as they have so much choice. I get bored with food very quickly
Do you mean Swedish glace? I tried the chocolate one and thought it was yuk. The vanilla is really nice though. I only have the Sainsburys dessert as a treat now and again. They are too expensive to eat on a regular basis.
For the chocoholics out there you can eat Bourneville chocolate now, as they have removed the butter content. I am into Tescos after dinner mints as they are dairy free too. We can also eat Frys peppermint chocolate bars too mmmmm.
Most Toffuti products come with several months date on them but it would depend on how long the supplier had kept it in stock. Are these really available by mail order? they are chilled products and should be kept refrigerated.

Yes the Kent shop does appear to sell the Tofutti cheese by mail order. I know they need to be kept in the fridge and I was a bit worried about it.
I would only use mail order if all else failed. I have now found a local health food shop which sells the Tofutti cheese, so I am ok for the moment.
