My husband found something I could eat for afternoon tea today. This fruit loaf is with orange and "bursting with fruitiness". He found it in our local Tesco. I had a slice this afternoon and froze the rest. It is very :bleh:
The ingredients are as follows:-
wheat flour, water, sultanas (16%), sugar, fruit puree (6%) sugar, apple, orange, humectant-glycerol, glucose syrup, dietery fibre, gelling agent - pectin, natural flavour, antioxidant ascobic acid, vegetable fat, yeast, salt, gelling agent E466, potato dextrin, wheat gluten, emulsifiers E472e, E471, flavouring, soya flour, dextrose, orange oil, preservatives calcium propionate (added to inhibit mould growth), E260, E281, E202, StabiliserE415, flour treatment agent ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
Allergy advice
contains wheat, gluten and soya.
It also says that it is produced in a bakery which uses milk and sesame seeds.
I think that they deserve a gold star for the amazing amount of information given on the wrapper.
They have a website
www.warburtons.co.uk (http://www.warburtons.co.uk)
They welcome comments from their customers.
That info really is very comprehensive. There seems so many branded products which still do not list standard info such as contains milk etc - they list ingredients but as we all know this isnt always enuf. Isn't there supposed to be a law going thru at the mo changing this? If the supermarkets can do a 'contains' box (not that they always get it right)! then why cant the others as well?

I visited Warburton's web site and found the mixed berry loaf under new products. It sounds really nice. I will have to see if Tesco stock it when I go shopping next week.

I've had their fruit loaf and it's really nice. I've also had their seeded batch rolls that are really tasty. They make a change from boring bread.
see another reason to eat wheat again....used to love these spread thick with marge etc. lovely....

I'm being pestered into giving up wheat now... but I'm reluctant as I'm pretty sure its going to lead to giving up gluten too and I've already lost my beloved cheese and rare steaks!
Will fit in as much of those Warburtons fruit loafs as I can before I lose the battle!
wheat doesn't neccessarily lead to gluten or not permenant. could be you have to avoid for while which will let the intestines recover then can eat oats etc again. instestinal aggravation due to the wheat can cause knock on effect of causing the dairy intolerance so by cutting it out could be you get to eat the other stuff eventually.....:)

I'm not actually intolerant to dairy I'm just not allowed to eat it as I have arthritis, so sadly no chance of getting to eat cheese ever again  although my joints have been quite bad again this week so I'm starting to think that if I'm in pain anyway I may as well treat myself to the odd cheese sandwich of slab of beef! But don't want to make things worse...
ouch!!! what have doctors said, stopping will make things better or just stop them getting much worse?
only you can balance the pros and cons!

THey think they have caught it early enough for it to make it better - I'm going to see some specialist on Friday so will get her opinion then on if I can go back on dairy or not... fingers crossed!

Hi there,
I agree with the others Broxine. Write down all the questions you want to ask, as if you are like me, you'll forget them. Let us know how it goes and hope you have good news.

Yes and no - some things have improved (even though still hurts my wrist isn't half as bad as it was) but then other symptoms I didn't have before have started - such as stomach cramps and scalely skin. But it is hard to say whether these are related to going dairy free or if I would have got them anyway.

Nothing is ever easy is it!!! Doctors should be very interested in us as we pose a challenge.
Broxine - your poorly wrist is probably from too much time in the arcade. I'm sulking because you keep taking all my titles - you and that PA person!!! (Copper - you must have words with your daughter)

THink you are right on that one! I am naughty and play games while at work (shhhh - don't tell my boss!) at the moment as I'm not busy - but they do make my wrist hurt!
I haven't been to the arcade recently, but I'm liking the fact that I'm top at the moment!! :) I'm preferring sleep to games at the moment

It's so not fair!:taz: My computer just refuses to connect to the arcade! I know Steve has tried to help but nothing has changed. Lucky for you lot of course!!:naughty:
Watch out Claire I'm going to have my Tetris title back even if it takes me all week to do it.
