I've scoured the package of Vitalite looking for dairy ingredients and the only potential one I saw was lactic acid. I have today received an email from Vitalite confirming it is from a non dairy source. Looks like Vitalite IS Vegan.
For those who haven't tried it, Vitalite is a great tasting spread with added vitaminns A, D & B12. Tastes much better thaan Pure Soya (IMHO).
That's interesting. Someone asked a while ago and I forgot to look in the supermarket, I will have to try to remember next time, though I don't think it is as widely available as it used to be. The only problem with vitalite is that it comes in those silly round tubs that don't fit in the fridge very well. We're always short of space having dairy and non dairy versions of everything (milk, butter, yoghurt, cheese etc) and I stopped buying vitalite years ago due to the awkward shape.
i just don't use much marg at all and could quite happily (and do) live without any. but then i don't eat bread etc so if i did i'd prob get some again.
vitalite is vcertainly a strange shape. marketting ploy i suppose.:o

Not that this offends me (as I'm only dairy-free, I still eat meat), but I just read on a vegan site that Vitalite ISN'T vegan because some of the vitamins in it are derived from lanolin.
Vitalite apparently now admits to being dairy-free on its packaging.
Well that's the message I got from my mum anyway :)

My local Tesco have seen fit to stop stocking the yellow Pure (they only have the soya Pure) but last week Vitalite had a prominent position. It says Dairy Free on the lid. I have only used it for cooking so far.
Yes I had the same problem, so mum arrived with two tubs of yellow pure yesterday, think she ended up in Morrisons for it.
I've started using Vitalite because I think it tastes much nicer and more like butter. Pure tastes like cheap margarine. My daughter, however will not eat anything that vitalite has touched, she can tell it has been used even in a sandwich that has been filled with jam.
I'm not a fan of vitalite, I think it tastes of plastic!!
My Gran used to have it, and I hated it- its less offensive now, so your daughter may eventually accept it.

Pure has gone up in price so will have to give this a go - I've become a bit of a fan of the Sainsbury free-from veggy spread though, which melts really well on toast and tastes very nice too.

im quite lucky my best friend started having the green pure cos i have it on toast, he loves it now!
M&S' dairy-free spread is quite nice and comes in two sizes, 250g and 500g.
Hi all
I called Pure and asked what has happened re tescos not stocking it and they said they have had so many complaints they are pretty sure Tesco will change their minds. Meantime I bought 10 tubs to freeze, in a larger Asda store I happened to be near recently although the smaller ones dont seem to have it.
I am tempted to try the vitalite though.
